Nicely setup clinic with a smart setup for handling COVID related safety of visitors. Everyone I dealt with was friendly and welcoming. Despite the hurdles of running business safely they got me in on relatively short notice in December and I had my new glasses a few weeks later. Also quite punctual with bookings and I did not wait long on either my initial visit or followup to pick up my glasses.

I have a story to share, one week ago I got shingles and some of the rash close to my eye and it is very dangerous because I could lose my vision. I called many optometry clinics to get immediate help, some of them were closed and many of them answered that they accept only their patients :(. Finally, I called Old South Optometry, the great Melissa answered my phone and she was very nice to me, she understood my emergency case, she asked Dr. Eric that told her to ask me to come immediately. I went and met the great Dr. Eric Chevalier, a very nice man he checked my eye for more than 30 minutes, he gave me a prescription, and now I am great, thanks to Melissa and Dr.Eric. I highly recommend Dr. Eric Chevalier and Old South Optometry, the good people for hard times. Dr. Eric, Melissa I appreciate your help.
My experience at this office was not a pleasant one. My 10 year old daughter had an early morning apt. My mom who is 71 and cannot be left alone joined us - we walked over as we live in Wortley. We were told that mom needed to wait in the cold due to covid. There was an empty waiting room and also glass doors with an empty separate entrance where she could have waited. I was told she needed to stand in the cold while my daughter had her exam. I suggested that my mom go in with my daughter while I wait but forms needed to be completed and the woman at the front desk looked at me like I had ten heads. I explained that my mom is 71 and should not be left in the cold but I was rudely interrupted and could not finish my conversation. Even my daughter who is 10 understood how unacceptable this treatment was and suggested we go elsewhere. I called another optometrist who gave me time to explain and gladly made a future apt for us. I was not going to post a review as this could have been a lapse in judgement from the woman at the front desk. I however received a letter from the optometrist quoting me incorrectly during my conversation with her employee. Given the optometrist was not present, her letter was incorrect and unprofessional. This is when I decided to write this review. It's clear the treatment was not a lapse in judgement but perhaps indicative of the overall poor treatment of clients/patients during a pandemic. Covid seems to be, for some, a reason to throw professionalism out the window. I am very aware of covid regulations to keep all safe however, policy should never override humanity and common sense.
This rating is for the eye exam and service overall. I haven’t purchased glasses yet. They are following strict COVID-19 procedures for everyone’s safety. Everyone that I encountered was kind and helpful. While I did look at some frames, I did not feel pressured by anyone to purchase them right away and I was given the choice to come back at a later date, whenever I wished to. I had my check up done by Dr. Tewari. She was very thorough and explained everything very well. I will definitely come back!
