The people at the Source helped us choose an appropriate gas fireplace, and the installers were really great. My only complaint is the person they recommended for building a fireplace mantel, Mike Sicard Woodworking. The Source highly recommended him and raved about his workmanship, but we had a very different experience. We wanted a specific fireplace design and provided Mike with detailed drawings. On our first meeting together, he showed us a completely different design. If you question his designs, he gets really defensive and tells you how much experience he has with fireplace mantels. After only one meeting, he told us he had done more for us than any other client. He also takes forever to respond to emails, and his responses are usually very curt with incoherent sentences. After Mike delivered the mantel, we decided not to have it installed. The corners were poorly mitred and the paint job was poor. Just look at his website – the mantel photos look like the “before” images – very old-fashioned. I recommend the Source if you just want to buy and install a fireplace unit, but look elsewhere for your mantel.
