Great restaurant for a nice dinner out. Went here for two and really enjoyed our visit. Better for groups since most of the entrees are designed to be shared. The food is extremely fresh and the service is exceptionally quick. We tried the crispy rice, signature tuna pizza (half and half with mushroom), tacos, and dragon roll. Everything was delicious and well prepared. The servers also did a nice job of explaining each dish as its a Michelin star restaurant. In our experience the food came really quick and we were done our dinner within half an hour.

I was really looking forward to trying out their food... Found it a bit underwhelming and the price is very expensive for the portions. The best part was definitely the tuna pizza. The tacos were dumpling sized and the rolls were tiny. The wagyu fried rice was just okay taste-wise, but the meat being mostly fat didn't help. I'm sure the experience is better in their restaurant, but due to covid then we're limited to takeout.
Food was ok, delicious but not beyond our expectation for its reputation. We were disappointed that the restaurant staff (a gentleman that looked like a manager) refused to let us see the iconic golden staircase, even just for a quick look, while we have seen other customers sharing selfies taken there on social media just a day before our visit. We understand that certain areas were closed because of Covid, but why double standard? Although it may sound rediculous, that staircase was the only reason we went to dine on the patio during the pandemic. We have seen it in the movie Possessor and have long wanted to see it in person. IT WAS OUR LAST DAY IN TORONTO after living in the city for 9 years and we had our farewell dinner here because we wanted it to be special. We explained this to the manager but he still refused to let us see it, even though we have tipped 18% on our bill. We ended up leaving in disappointment and it's not exaggerating to say that Akira Back ruined our last day and dinner in Toronto.
This place was amazing! The food here was fantastic!! We got the wagyu tacos, alaskan king crab, truffle bomb, jidori chicken, and the ribeye. I had two of the Summa Time cocktails as well which were really good. The interior at this place was beautiful and the atmosphere was really nice. I would definitely recommend this place, and will definitely come back.
Why did it takes so long to try this place! The Michelin star chef Akira Back gave me a taste of his culinary skills on the several dishes I have been recommended and was super impressed! Every dish was delicious! There were a few items that were not captured which I would definitely recommend and the dishes are: toro caviar, salmon Serrano, and the edaname.
Taste, sophistication, ambiance, and service. This location had it all! This Japanese restaurant offers some truly unique yet authentic taste of Japan. Full flavoured choices of fish blended with complimentary spices and herbs truly brings out the taste of the main star! The plating and presentation of each dish are all carefully created and ensure that food is also as good as it looks! Rare! The atmosphere inside was different. The golden stairway upstairs made you feel like royalty.. the black marble walls and golden kitchen area is a great combination or elegance and wealth. The servers were prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. They knew each type of fish, where they're sourced and type of cut that offers the best taste on your pallet. They understand how each mixture and combination of dishes can compliment each other leading from subtle tasting to more intense flavors ensuring nothing gets muted! 100% will go again!
Still can't get over this place! The food was amazing! Every dish was full of flavors and just satisfying. Tuna/Mushroom pizza was excellent and a perfect start! I highly recommend this place!
Great food, nice ambiance, music was too loud for me. I had the Jidori chicken and the short rib. I’ve never tasted chicken that was so tender and well cooked. The short rib was just as delicious! I would recommend trying their old fashioned as well.
