This store has put in place great COVID-19 rules to help stop the spread. All customers are required to wear masks while inside and they have convenient access to the back of the building where you can drop off your packages inside without having to get close to anyone. They have 24/7 surveillance at both the front entrance, rear entrance, and inside. I know my packages are always safe and looked after when dropped off at the UPS Store. It's disappointing to see that some people would rather risk spreading COVID-19 rather than take a few steps to safely drop off their packages through the back entrance.
Not sure when the ownership/management changed (sometime in 2019 perhaps) but the new management is extremely unhelpful and rude. As someone that frequents several UPS stores throughout Essex County/Windsor for business, you would think that they would go out of their way to recognize repeat customers but that’s not the case. This is also the only UPS store that I’ve visited since the Covid-19 shutdown that turned me away after already carrying all of my parcels inside their building, telling me that I had to take everything and leave it on the ground in the sketchy alley/parking lot behind their building, then after several months of this being the process, they post a notice stating they’re not responsible for lost/stolen packages left unattended outside... to anyone else uncomfortable with this process, save yourself the worry and go to UPS in Windsor, they have been happy to accept my parcels in store.
If you are looking for a stress-free shipping method, use Canada Post. They may take a little longer across border but they clear parcels with no extra work on your end. UPS will have you scrambling for paperwork with no help from the UPS Store, which btw is a different company. That’s right, UPS is not the UPS Store. They are 2 separate entities. Review your receipt very closely in regards to insurance coverage. If they give you free packing material, your insurance is void. It’s a loophole, one of many. Do your research before shipping with UPS especially for expensive items. I’ve had an expensive item damaged and a time-sensitive item stuck at customs for lack of paperwork, which I had no idea I’d have to produce. That’s why I say if you want stress-free, Canada Post is your best bet. It’s cheaper and it has better customer service. Pack fragile and expensive items yourself, always. If you do decide to ship with UPS, don’t rely on them to pack it for you, they flat out do not care.
Yes; we are in the midst of a global pandemic. I appreciate all our essential workers and I realize that every delivery service is late. However; all other delivery service providers (Canada Post, Purolator, FedEx) are managing and have figured out a system. Orders are still late; but within a reasonable time frame and tracking info is accurate. With UPS; tracking info is incomplete, inaccurate and orders are insanely late. It’s not the drivers’ fault; but obviously an issue higher-up. This pandemic is far from over. To the management of UPS; please consult with other delivery service providers and find a system that works!
