During summer day camp, my daughter broke her ankle (salter harris type 1 fracture.) The person who looked after her HAD NO FIRST AID TRAINING. When I dropped her off, I had stressed that I was to be called if I was needed for any reason. They iced her ankle four times and then forced her to walk to a park and demanded that she walk faster when she complained her ankle was hurting. When I picked her up nobody informed me of her injury. We were not given an accident report until my husband returned the next day. She slipped on a mat because her feet were sweaty and they worded it on the report "tripped over her own feet" (nice huh?) They showed no concern for my daughter's injury whatsoever. Obviously, injuries are to be expected in any sport but the way this was handled showed a type of apathy and unprofessional-ism which signals a BIG problem. They then removed my original review from their Facebook page. I've been contacted by another family and they have requested that I share my story with Gymnastics Ontario as they also had a horrid experience with this gym. I had hoped that what happened to my daughter could be used as a learning experience by the staff of this gym-- ie contact parent right away, don't take a chance with injuries, ensure staff receive first aid training, never force a child to walk on an injured foot. I'd caution those interested in a one day gymnastic experience to avoid this place. They have a work-through-the-pain type of attitude that is dangerous.
Great club, great coaches, lots of fun!
