I live in Niagara Falls and often (before Covid that is) will go to St. Catharines for Japanese food. We just re-discovered this very small restaurant called Michinoku in Niagara Falls, owned by a Japanese chef. I believe his relative also works there as the server. We order the lunch box (like a Bento Box). For 12.99 we got a small miso soup, edemame (in a cute red cupcake cup), rice with salmon teriyaki ( perfect size even for a dinner portion), nice fresh leafy salad with daikon radish and carrots (in a perfect Japanese dressing) and some grilled eggplant. Delicious and flavourful!!! The meal was ready in 20 minutes and the person managing the order was friendly, nice and pleasant. Both the chef and the server were wearing traditional Japanese outfits and they looked gorgeous!! What can I say, great experience!! Will come back again and again!!! They have a Tuesday special ( chicken cutlet) that we will try next time. They also have 10% off on Wednesdays for seniors (check restrictions).

The food is very good. A little pricey for what you get. The place is tiny thus giving it a dull dining experience.

We ordered michinoku dinner, sashimi dinner and the eel or you can call Una-don dinner. Service is good , environment is ok. The food are , well, mixed experience , or below average in most part. The assorted tempura is good, batter is smooth and light, the vegetables choice used is in tempura is interesting. Salad is good, not as good as Taki but still over average. The eel is not tasty, like just took out from freezer and reheated. For that price, i start missing Taki....:( Sashimi are ok, but the salmon are thin and small, lacking of flavours, like its using tails part to serve. BTW cheif need sharpen the knife, i can see some tears on the peices. The rolls comes with the michinoku dinner are bad, tast like nothing. Over all, the food is ok, consider the price, i will give 3 stars for the food only. But overall , 4.

This restaurant has amazing service and delightful menu. My favourite restaurant ever. The drinks and food came out rapidly and the prices are fair. I recommend this place.
