I LOVE FERRY!!!
like
Travelling from Dartmouth across to Halifax was easy to access. As a new visitor to the city it was nice to have the info desk to explain how the ferry works! Very pleasant and friendly persons at the info area.
While you may not think of the commuter ferry being something you would do on vacation, this is one of the best deals in town. You can take the Ferry from Downtown Halifax to Dartmouth and be treated by great views of the city that you would not get unless you paid a lot of additional money to pay for a tour that takes you out on the water. The ferries run on a regular schedule and you can pay the fair just once and ride both directions as long as you are only on the other side for less than 90 minutes. We ended up staying longer than that, but it was still worth the experience and providing us the opportunity to enjoy the food and beverages over on the Dartmouth side.
The Halifax ferry terminal is really efficient but also very tired. It looks like it is kind of getting renovated but the ferries work great and are a very reasonably priced way to get around.
Excellent way to move back and forth from Halifax and Darthmouth, opened all year round, cheap and always right on time: I like this!! Take some change, is 2.75 currently and you need that exactly, they do not take bills but you can break them at the change machine in the terminal. No cars, but you can bring your bike. Too bad the windows are so dirty for pictures...
This review is specific to my visit and I won't be reviewing the facilities and their administration as I did not encounter anything much in my brief trip. Ferry service is government owned and very affordable to move between the twin-towns Halifax/Dartmouth. As a visitor, nothing's more happy than affordable prices in travel. For 2.50c, I get to transit through bus and ferry for 2 hours and no one can beat it, correct? I took the ferry from Halifax to Dartmouth at around 6:30 PM on a cold, windy, and partially rainy day. Still I did not want to miss out on the skyline of the towns. So, I say on the upper-deck of the ferry braving the wind. I Was rewarded with stunning skyline of Halifax downtown, Angus L. MacDonald bridge, and the "Always beautiful" ocean water. For those visitors coming on a warmer day, you can get off at Dartmouth and see some local places and visit local restaurants within the walking distance. Same with Halifax. At Dartmouth ferry office, there were some renovations being done and looked brighter and more well-maintained than Halifax ferry office.
This is also a famous attraction, but in fact it is not very playable. On the pier, there are some restaurants and shops selling small commodities. They are bustling, bustling, dining time, and a little famous restaurant. Behind the pier by the sea
Great experience!
