Don't waste your time with this place. I completed a cat adoption application because a specific cat was listed on their website as available. Then, out of nowhere, at 2:30am, Anna got back to me saying the cat was adoption pending and denied me in one short sentence via email. Nothing was indicated on their website. Why was the cat still listed online if that’s the case? Got my hopes up for nothing. Already started mentally preparing for the adoption. Their behaviour is disgusting it should be called emotional abuse. Completely unprofessional. Being a volunteer organization is not an excuse for poor customer service and/or negligence. Many volunteer organizations are run better. If you read through the negative reviews here, you start to see a pattern of negative reviews emerging.

Unlike the previous post, I was the foster that ended up taking this “viscous “ pup onto my care from the previous foster. Some people take fostering on without really knowing what they are doing, such as the previous foster. Inexperienced, children that didn’t know boundaries, “perfect” expectations from a pup taken out of a traumatic situation in the first 24hours, very UNREALISTIC!! In working with this pup I naturally had not only one but two families that didn’t have the understanding for what was needed. Naturally week one was an adjustment period for ALL of us. Into the following weeks the pup went from being fearful, fear biting not being able to be handled turned into a HUGE cuddle bug and shadow!! She has since been adopted to a loving family and fur brother, is doing FANTASTIC and is loved beyond words!! Oxford County Animal Rescue volunteers work tirelessly, many thankless hours, have cried many tears at when an animal is lost after many efforts to save it. Cried tears of joy when they are able to adopt an animal into their forever home. Are the idiots? NO. Are they PERFECT? NO. Will they do whatever is necessary to help animals YES!! I would recommend this rescue 110%!!

This rescue placed the sweetest little dog into a family members care. This dog was abused by a child and the rescue placed her in the home knowing full well there was small children. Both children were bitten by the dog multiple times, each time drawing blood. The kids were nowhere near the dog and didn't touch the dog, so this shouldn't have happened. When the rescue was called, they gave not support. Ignored messages and phone calls and would not return them. They finally replied a date and time to drop the dog off, the dog was dropped off and my family member was blamed for the dog biting the kids, even though the previous foster home return the dog b/c of biting issues as well. Made them feel guilty and to make things worse, they shows some random message from a complete stranger about a fb post asking for help and support b/c this rescue was giving none! They gave no support at all and do not have the animals best at heart. If they did this dog never would have been placed in a home with children!!! I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS RESCUE TO ANYMORE. THEY ARE IDIOTS AND SHOULD NOT BE IN CHARGE OF FOSTERING OR ADOPTING ANIMALS OUT. THE OXFORD COUNTY SPCA SHOULD TAKE ALL THE ANIMALS OUT OF THIS PERSONS CARE SO SHE DOESN'T HARM THEM. If she treats people the way she did when the dog was dropped off I can only imagine how she is towards the animals she is suppose to be helping

I am certainly not surprised to see that OCAR has flagged my photo of an offensive remark made by text message when speaking with Anna Holmes, a member of their organization. An organization that is relying on the community for support and donations would definitely not want the public to read such an offensive remark, so derogatory towards any person/persons who have a family member or friend that suffer from a mental illness. My personal experience with Anna is one of, as soon as you don't allow her to disrespect you, it was easy for her to define me as difficult, crazy, or in her words; \I was in need of a medication change.\ This particular conversation, I was looking for help with a sick/abandoned cat. OCAR was at full capacity, and that was fine. I then asked her for a suggestion of another rescue that may be able to help. Which she replied....\Google it.\ I do not discredit the hard work, time, and love that any volunteer, fundraiser, or foster home with OCAR, puts towards finding homes for animals in need. This bad review is simply for any potential adopter/fosters to be aware that when communicating with her, she has zero public relations skills. Let's hope she is better with animals than she is with people.

We adpoted two absolutely gorgeous female kittens from OCAR this weekend. Four months old, beautifully socialized, healthy, playful lap cats with great temperaments. Whoever fostered these kittens from birth did an incredible job. My wife and I will be forever grateful. Thank you so much.
