Fried Papaya Salad . Yes, you heard me correctly. I said Fried papaya salad. Never heard of such a thing? Only had that regular papaya salad? Well man are you missing out! . You’re not the only one. I too was missing out until I stumbled on Les Street Monkeys . A fantastic Cambodia style restaurant, doing traditional dishes with a twist all thanks to Chef Tota Oung I've always had fresh papaya salad dressed in a lime and fish sauce dressing with mixed vegetables topped with herbs and peanuts. This is the only place I know of in Montreal so far with a fried version. . Not only is it aesthetically pleasing to look at , but it also makes your taste buds sing. I mean, Papaya, carrots, long beans, cherry tomatoes mixed with a fresh lime vinaigrette with a hint of tamarind, fish sauce, fermented fish paste, dried shrimp topped with peanuts and chili pepper makes for a beautiful symphony. They’re not trying to reinvent the wheel, but simply put a twist and make it fantastic! My first visit left me wanting more. So I quickly gathered 6 friends and we ordered everything on there menu, twice . Man, this place didn’t miss a beat! Everything was on point. So do yourself a favor, grab an Uber, get in your car or take a walk down to 3625 Rue Wellington and let me know which of the many well thought out dishes did it for you!

I have returned millions of times to this restaurant. Always bring more friends to experience this. The specials are always changing. Drinks are worthwhile. Waiters were attentive, especially for shrimp etc allergies..

We have been going for 7 years to Cambodia many months per year so we have eaten our share of delicious Cambodian food ! So we could not wait to see how Street Monkey would surprise us! In fact they did, in a great way! They took authentic tastes but added a modern twist!! The flavors were fresh and so tasty! We took : Fried papaya salad, Nataing salad, chicken skewers , bone marrow , fried rolls and Mango Sticky rice ! Everything was amazing but our faves were the Nataing and Fried papaya salad!! The staff was super friendly and they offered a great service! We definitely recommend!!!

Wow! Went for the tasting menu and was blown away. Each course was delicious and well presented. Having the staff cook in front of us at the bar was a fun experience. You could tell they were enjoying the process, sipping on a pint as the end of the evening approached. The Sausage stuffed Chicken Wing was by far the most amazing thing I have ever tasted. Who came up with this concept? I’m going back for these...for sure! The bone is out and it’s injected with a semi-spicy sausage meat...completely insane. We felt transported to another place, and our taste buds needed a rest after such a workout. My complements to the Chef and staff.

We've ordered from here a few times. So delish. Flavourful & spicy (depending on what you order).Tonight we ordered fried papaya salad and Chha Kari (red curry shrimp stir fry, coconut milk, Thai basil, bamboo & zucchini), I loved it! Tastes so fresh too. Really happy that this place opened up in Verdun!
