It's so unbelievable that Hapa Izakaya has only one location now :( because they have such incredible selection of food! My husband and I had an amazing Friday date night here. We're a huge fan of Japanese hot tapas and this is the ideal place where you can just indulge! We also love the staff and service especially with the social distancing measures they have in place. We will dine here again (this time more prepared with empty stomach) as we want to try so much more food as well as reorder the items from the pics. Honestly, they're all our favourites!

The atmosphere was a little bit dark and more casual than we were expecting. We ordered the Beef Tataki, Ebi Mayo, Renkon Gyoza Tempura, Chicken Karaage, and the Chipotle Beef Curry Ishi-Yaki. The beef tataki was fine with a nice spice from the sesame chili sauce. The ebi mayos were delicious, perfectly cooked with a creamy sauce over top. The gyoza tempura was unique, but a bit heavy for my preference. The chicken karaage was decently portioned with a sweet and tangy sauce. The beef curry and rice dish came out piping hot in a stone bowl. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed that our server mixed up our fried egg right away and the rest of the dish, which meant we didn't get to experience any runny yolks. Overall, it was kind of an awkward experience while our server was mixing as we were not expecting them to mash up our meal in front of us and I was shocked that they ruined my perfectly runny fried egg. In the end, the dish looked really unappetizing and very brown-grey and goopy looking, but it ended up tasting pretty good.

My husband and I have been coming to Hapa back when there was only the Robson location. Hapa will always have a special place in my heart - lots of memories! Justin and his staff are all so wonderful and always so welcoming and the food has been consistently tasty. Will continue to come here

What an awesome restaurant! It’s so lively without being “loud”. Vibes were awesome, staff was great; I really appreciate having photos of each dish on the menu. My favourite thing we had was Jalapeño Hamachi Carpaccio (make sure to add a squirt of lemon 10/10) and I really enjoyed the Beef Tataki.. the Goma-ae was lacking that strong thick peanut butter sauce; which personally love peanut butter but if you don’t want it as strong, then you’ll enjoy. If you’re not a heavy drinker, like me, and you enjoy something light and fruity, I recommend the spiked pear lemonade. To finish off, the almond pudding was very beautiful, super light, delicious .. just missing a dash of cinnamon thanks for having us! Will be back
