What a quaint little Izayaka along College! Amazing staff who are friendly and outgoing, their helpful suggestions on what to eat lead to me enjoying my experience more. A variety of different mains and appetizers for both vegetarians and meat lovers! I had the chance to sit outside due to our never ending lockdown situation (they have patio seating), but I cannot wait until they fully open up. I want to sit and watch the chefs work their magic!
Incredible izakaya restaurant that is a gift to this neighbourhood. I've already ordered from Gonzo a handful of times, and every time the food, presentation, service, and value have all been perfect. The food is always fresh and full of flavour. They have a ton of healthy options and some more indulgent ones. I personally love their Donburis, especially the Aburi Sake (so fresh), and the Yakisoba (warm and comforting). In a neighbourhood where more expensive restaurants are opening up every year, Gonzo provides high quality food quickly and at great prices. This is my new favourite spot in the neighbourhood, and I urge everyone to give it a shot. Support local and keep this gem alive!
Ordered the karaage don and tempura don, as well as some fried eggs. It was all fantastic! Delicious food, great sized portions, and the staff are so friendly! We'll be back.

Does anyone taste toothpaste in the wasabi? Ordered the Aburi Sake Don and the wasabi in it tasted like mint. The salmon was really good, other than it being cooked a tad too much for my liking. Also ordered the Gyu Don. It was a little dry and needed a little more sauce, but the portion was good. Got the Karaage for free for their grand opening special (buy 2 donburis, get 1 karaage). It was pretty bland. Needed more seasonings and ginger. The dressing on the salad that came with the karaage also didn’t taste like anything.
Went to Gonzo last night and was blown away by their restaurant! Service is lovely and food was amazing. So glad they have a patio set up :)
