Small hotel in tobermory. It was down the road from the main strip and it is the last motel on the street away from the strip. Before coming I looked at the reviews and images and although the reviews weren't great, they did say the motel was under construction, up to last year. I was very disappointed to find out the motel was still largely under construction and seemed to only have a few rooms left available in the potion of the hotel that were complete. The baseboards in the hallways were all missing with peeling paint. We were told they were vacuuming our room when we arrived and they would be done shortly. When we got our room it was still dirty on the floor, it looks like sawdust and plaster on the carpet. The bed was clean. I did a bed spot-check and it looked perfectly clean, which is one of the only positives of this entire motel. The front door had what looked like a bullet hole, through the main door and the glass across from the door was also cracked, as if a bullet didnt have enough speed to go through 2 layers of glass. In the back of the motel was remains of a literal garbage fire. There was even a giant oil drum with 20 bullet holes in it. On the property of the motel is what looked like old cottages from when the place first opened. Now they stand as reminders of a time long gone, if someone told you they were murder cabins would not even bat an eye. These ruined empty cottages that are nothing but an eye sore on this motel. I only hope that this construction ends soon. this location has lots of potential and could have a beautiful future in tobermory.

Great view from our room. The place is under renovation but our room was comfortable and clean. Social distancing measures meant we didnt have to interact with anybody, actually saw basically nobody during our stay. The walls are kind of thin I think, everytime someone on our floor closed the door in the morning, it was a loud bang and woke me up while I was trying to sleep in. Would definitely stay again!
Booked at Booking.com and had terrible experience in this place. I waited for 2.5 hours outside the inn with my kids in the car in the parking area. They have self-check in but I did not get any email what is the code for the lock so I can’t get in the property. I called 10 times the caretaker and left multiple voicemails. NO cal back. I have to leave after 2.5 hrs of waiting that destroyed almost my half day and have to look for a room at night time worrying that we might NOT get a room. Terrible! AVOID this place! I have to call booking.com and they tried to call the caretaker multiple times also but they can’t contact him too. They don’t have choice but to refund me but they can’t refund my time wasted waiting to get in and to look for another place to stay. Such an inconvenience!
They are doing renos, so you get your keys out of a lock box. First, they gave us the wrong code for the box. By studying the other lock box codes we figured it out. We opened the box to find NO KEYS inside. No one is on site to talk to, so we texted and called the property manager several times with no replies, no answer. We called the hotel itself only to get an answering machine. We left a message but they never got back to us. We ended up driving home in the middle of the night. If you have any sense, avoid this place like the plague.
This is a "self check in" hotel. When we first arrived we were unable to follow the steps to check in, we assumed the room wasn't ready so we continued with our day. In the evening we drove back to the hotel to still find out we were unable to check in. We called the number of the property Manager named Tyler. Tyler met me outside the hotel not knowing what room we had reserved???? After showing him the email from the hotel giving us instructions on how to check in and what room we would be staying in, he stated he was going to give us a "better" room. My Wife and I proceeded to gather our belongings and went to our room. At first glance it looked like the room hadn't been cleaned for a lengthy period of time. As I am about to have a shower I notice thick blood stains on the shower curtain. Since this was the "better" room we decided to pack up our belongings and take that most wonderful 4 hour drive back home. I called Tyler and let him know there was Blood on the shower curtain, I heard him sigh over the phone and tell us that he would be back in a couple minutes. (also suggesting it could be paint - the room was grey) Tyler arrived about 15 minutes after the most recent phone call, I told him we were unable to stay in a hotel that had blood stains (HIV, Hep A-B-C, Herpes, Etc) I asked for a refund and he said there would be no problem. So far after many attempts to contact the hotel I still am getting no response. Before we left I had taken pictures to document some of the hygiene issues. I was told I would receive a full refund. This has not happened, I have emailed and phoned multiple times. I have contacted the Public Health for Bruce County and reported these issues. There is an investigation on going now. I have contacted Visa to dispute these charges (200/night) This place should be shut down. It is a dump and does not even deserve 1 star. I have posted pictures. DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE. My sister booked this place off booking.com for 3:00 on a busy weekend in Tobermory. We arrive at 6:00 keys aren’t in the lock box. After NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS, finally get a hold of the caretaker. Caretaker was clearly intoxicated and promised us the place will be cleaned shortly. My father had to walk him to the room and help him clean it as he was not cleaning it and loitering while intoxicated.
Place is busy even in weekdays and during renovations these day we stayed 2 days nights and I am looking forward for next summer here again with family. Rooms/beds were clean and good condition Property manager Hassan is doing a GREAT job keeping the place tidy KUDOS!!
The room was nice, spacious and over all clean, you can tell that the furniture is a bit old and can use a renewal. The location in my opinion was one of the biggest downside, it’s a little bit further away from the center of attractions, I mean it’s an extra 8-10 minutes walk but that could be something you need to know. The bathroom was ok-ish, it can definitely use some renovations, hot and cold water works fine and that’s what matters the most. The internet was surprisingly fast, I’ve been to five star hotels that had much much slower internet. The service was great, they went above and beyond and were a text away at all times. the self check-in and out is super convenient too. Overall the place is ok, I just think that the price doesn’t match what you’re getting, I believe it should be a little cheaper IMO, and that’s my only take.
