The black sesame pearls is really good and different from the standard pearls. They also have other flavours like taro but wasn’t available when I was there. The drink is also very good. We came during the grand opening free drink. Service was good even though the line was long.

We’ve heard about Boba Boy and got a chance to try out a few different drinks while we were on our way to visit Steveston. Our family had 3 different flavours: deluxe milk tea (came with pudding, pearls and grass jelly), mango juice with coconut jelly and lychee aloe green tea with coconut jelly. Normally we would ask for half sweet but forgot this time and the sweetness was just right. Service was helpful and prompt. There is an eco-friendly option to buy a drink in a reusable bottle which also allows you to buy your next drink at the regular size price. We would come back and try other drinks again.

Very clean and interesting decor. Friendly staff, good selection. Average taste but reasonable prices. Bubbles could be cooked longer/more in sugar? Nice to have a decent bubble tea joint in the area.

Decent boba shop. Average spending is about 7 per person. They were short handed when we came so it took about 20 minutes for our order

Boba boy is in a very convenient location, not too hard to find parking. The problem is that I ordered the black sugar pearl red bean latte and it tasted like watermelon! I think that the staff accidentally messed up my order and gave me their special fruit flavoured pearls instead of the original ones. On another past visit, the pearls seemed to be not too fresh. They were pretty hard. Although the few things that I like about boba not are that with the purchase of one of their reusable cups you can get a drink (sized large) for the price of a regular. Also, they have happy hour, 2 drinks for 8, between 4-7 I believe.

We tried the fresh taro mousse. They use fresh taro, milk and sweetener. It comes with your choice of topping. We chose the red bean paste. The drink was a bit thin in consistency but not watery. It was still smooth and creamy. At normal sweetness, the sugar was not over powering at all. We tasted the taro all throughout. The red bean paste was soft but on the chunky side which is what we prefer.

I find their prices quite reasonable. Their black sugar series comes in a full sized cup (most other places comes in a half size cup) and it only cost 5. But, I thought the taste was quite bland. My husband got the 'the deluxe,' which has the 3 usual suspects (pearls/pudding/grass jelly). He said ''there was nothing special about it.'' In fact, my friend felt his taro milk tea was quite bland too. He asked for half sweet, and it "just tasted like they put in half the powder." Out of the 4 drinks only the lychee aloe vera drink might pass for enough flavour. My friend ordered it half sweet, and she said it was too sweet for her. Maybe cuz the drink comes with aloe vera jelly. (For me, that might be the drink of choice cuz I like my drinks sweet) All in all, I think with so much competition around, unless their drinks taste better, they may not make it for very long. They claim to make their own pearls, but I still think OneZo's are much better.
