Terrible, slow service even though we were one of two groups of four in the restaurant. Among other items, we ordered a specialty roll that resembled a sushi snow ball, which immediately fell apart when we tried to pick it up with chopsticks. Most of the nigiri and maki that we ordered fell apart too. As seasoned sushi lovers, this was immediately disappointing. Still, when it comes down to it, the taste is what matters the most, so we tucked in with our usual gusto. Sadly, while not rancid, the fish did not appear to be fresh and it was very chewy, a cross the board. There is no excuse for this in a town that is surrounded by dozens of mountain lakes and rivers. While they would undoubtedly need to procure some of their servings from afar, tapping into and promoting local, seasonal fish is ripe for the picking. If they are already serving into the local fare, it did not come through, in taste or texture, and it certainly was not communicated to us. This place could be so much more.

We just ordered some take out and we are sooooooo blown away by how delicious everything is! So so fresh. We’re originally from Vancouver and moving here we were nervous to try the sushi here but this is better than any sushi we’ve had in Vancouver. The salmon was so fresh and tasty, tempura crispy and delicious and just overall amazing service from the staff. Come here!! You won’t regret it!!
The buffet is very good deal. Over 30 different sushi platters plus other dishes like miso soup, fried squid, gyoza, vegetable tempura and more. Service was great. Waitress and cook were very welcoming. Well done. Will definitely be be coming back
Date night!! Delighted to see the buffet was out. Everything looks so good.so many choices to pick from our first plate was all different pieces. Beef chicken fish fruit avocado you name it it was available in Sushi form tonight. My favorite was the gyoza and miso soup, don't skip the soup. Great experience, we will come again.

Not sure what happened with out meal. One of our table got completely forgotten. My appetizer came 10 mins after the main mean and the alcoholic beverage I ordered was almost half the size of as advertised.... food was good. Experience was not.
Rolls were tasty. Unagi tough. Sashimi served slightly frozen. Miso soup quite salty. Service was good, staff friendly.
We have eaten at Kinbari once a week for 3 months. Tonight the owner flew into a rage at one of the servers in front of guests. It was the owner's mistake who also makes the sushi. Several guests stood up and came to the defense of a wonderful server which I think took the owner by surprise. Our last time eating there. His behaviour was unacceptable.
