The place burnt today. Bow your heads in memorializing the memories of this landmark. I stopped across from there this morning...as I do at times before work, to see if maybe the seal is there... liked watching the young people do their morning thing.. young travellers.. I remember that feeling..lol..went up the street to work an hour later, the place is on fire. Weird day! Sorry for your loss and I hope no one was hurt! And RIP to the bedbugs!!!
we rented the private room 2 it was not private at all and it was very dirty . used Kleenex on the floor, food wrappers under the bed and couch , hair everywhere all over the futon, couch, floors and sheets the room had not been cleaned there was mud on the bathroom floor. the person on the phone told us if we rented this room it would only be accessed by us and was not shared at all as we wanted a private sleeping and bathroom area but when we where in there someone came in and told us the bathroom was shared. I have stayed in many hostels but this by far was the worst one I have ever stayed at we had booked 5 days but left after one night as we had no other option but to stay as we arrived late at night
Do NOT stay here. I spent a night here last week. Used a brand new credit card. The same day I had a 220 dollar charge to Western Union and a 50 dollar charge to a store in California.
We always like staying here, mostly because it's inexpensive and allows our dog to stay with us. :-)
Got to say after backpacking Europe, and south america this was close to the worst hostel. Was told that check in is 4pm. No one there, finally called emergency line 5:30pm. Finally someone showed up around 6pm. Nice guy but he takes us to our room and its covered in beer bottles and he is like sorry guess its not clean. Come back later. O ya and your shower is broken. Biggest issue with this hostel is no owner/manager anywhere. Can't expect much with no one making sure things are cleaned, fixed or people are doing their jobs.
Stayed one night and I was satisfied. Staff was friendly, kitchen facilities adequate, and location good.
