Car battery died (measured to be under 10vdc) this morning in Sidney. Old battery is 8 years old passed it's warranty period. Reached its maximum shelf life. Fortunately the Canadian Tire Automotive dept. opens at 8 am. Picked up a motormaster model 95R rated at 590 amps. for 139 taxes. returned back to car removed old & changed to new (it now reflects to be 12.59 vdc) within spec. After connection it cranks beautifully. Returned old battery to Canadian Tire to redeem 20. All accomplished within 1 hour. I found counter staff helful & was able to offer advice to my questions by referring to the computer when in doubt.

A great Canadian tire that wasn't busy at all during my trip. They had everything I was looking for. Would recommend!

It's really nice to have a department store in Sidney. The staff are helpful. The checkouts are a little random and people can end up thinking they're in one of two feeder line-ups. I would wish the staff would keep an eye on that, or use better signage to show the flow.

Nice store to shop in person but do not use their online service or expect items to be in stock even though it says so on their website. They put a hold on your credit card then provide no information on present or future availability. I waited 2 weeks for an item before finally cancelling. If you attend in person for an advertised item and it is not in stock always ask where it is in stock. Other Canadian tires are much better stocked. I should add that when you contact customers service online you receive a long auto reply that tells you they will be in touch. They never reply. Phoning customer service gives you a nice person who advises to buy the item at another Canadian Tire who is better stocked.

While shopping at Canadian-Tire (North Saanich) today, my son was mesmerized by the giant stuffed teddy’s as we walked in the store. He expressed his desire for said teddy, and a staff member (pretty sure he was the manager) overheard our conversation. He then sought us out as we were shopping, told us he’d love to make my son’s dream come true and proceeded to gift him the teddy. He said he had grandchildren he missed very much around my son’s age. I try to teach my son to be kind, especially in these times. This mans actions SHOWED him in a very real and tangible way what that means. His gracious act made a profound impact on both of us. ️
