I cannot believe this place is vegetarian. Somehow they’ve made tofu taste and feel exactly like meat. Their food is amazing and has absolutely no meat - but this place is NOT VEGAN. There is cheese and mayo in some dishes. This place is also not gluten free. Nevertheless the food is incredible. I had my doubts about the lack of meat, but honestly after this experience I think I can do without. There are so many different flavours as textures. I love the crispy taro ball with homemade sauce and the baked mushroom tart (keep in mind there’s cheese). The atmosphere is lovely and the wait staff are funny and kind. Of course, we came in the middle of a snow storm so we were the only customers. I am definitely going to come back.

Another amazing visit to Wutai! We had the steamed eggplant - Amazing.. Elm mushroom and bamboo pith with sbowpea shoots - light and super nutritious.. Fried rice with mushroom and pine nuts as well as the lotus in sticky rice wrapped in tofu paper. The food was beautiful looking, tasting and feeling. Couldn't ask for better. Our server Mike was super helpful and gave us lots of great info and advise with the menu which he knew inside out! Service , food and atmosphere is top notch every time. Highly recommend you try this out if you haven't yet!

Great vegetarian place!! They also serve vegetarian style dim sum! While some restaurants try to make the vegetarian equivalent of certain meat dishes by using dense tofu, this place simply does something better, something tastier! They replace what was supposed to be the tofu with sticky rice or veggies or something else. The flavor is not bland at all but also not to salty or to oily!! Great vegetarian food!!

Great place for vegetarian dim sum. Occasionally order something and get something that looks different than the name implies, but still enjoy it.

My father suggested we try a vegetarian restaurant for supper and his friends suggested Wutai Vegetarian Restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised. The menu was varied and the staff was more than happy to make suggestions. The menu is in both Chinese and English with lots of photos. My father started with a rich savoury papaya soup. We ordered the aparagus with white tree fungus, the deep fried milk with mushrooms and snowpeas, the "Chinese BBQ" platter (tofu and gluten made into what looks like crispy duck and BBQ pork), and the avocado fried rice. The vegetables were crispy and fresh. Deep fried milk is always delicious. The "Chinese BBQ" platter was my least favourite, but it was interesting to try. The avocado fried rice was very filling. They served the usual Chinese sweet dessert soup at the end of the meal. We had the tofu skin stew with water chestnuts and gingko nuts. Yum! The restaurant was busy, but not full so service was extremely quick. I'm coming back to try the dim sum options! Oh, they also give you a 5 coupon if your bill is over 35. If you collect 2 coupons, the value goes up to 20 (instead of 10). Update: I returned for dim sum. It's a different experience and less expensive. We wanted to try everything so we ordered too much. The parsnip with mushrooms (sorry no picture, it was the first dish to arrive so I gobbled it up before remembering to take a photo) and the seaweed zhaliang were my favourite. The sesame balls with molten egg yolk were a pleasant surprise (the menu describes it as "pumpkin"). This is going to become my go to dim sum place.
