It was my first time trying out German food and it was so good. Tasty food and good portion! Must-visit in Yellowknife Cozy little restaurant, with an atmosphere almost feels like I am at gramma’s place.

We made a reservation for 6pm and had good food and good service before it became completely full. We had the special fish platter, fish chowder, and the pickerel. That was the best fish, tender, fresh and tasty.
Everything just perfect. A good server and great food. You just can't skip this great dinning place if you stay in Nova or The Explorer. Love the Trout and fries, also the juicy pork in German style. Due to it is a relative small dinning place with 1x seats, suggest you call and ask before you go to there.
Everything is homemade from the dips to the bread and including the schnitzel. Their local whitefish is the best in Yellowknife and the portion size reminds you of how big the fish get here. I highly recommend especially if you are hungry!
Arrived for a late dinner while in transit in Yellowknife for work. Thankfully, Elke stayed open without any questions/comments. I had the pickerel which was absolutely wonderful. It was a large piece too (extends under the fries in this pic). The restaurant was also charming as was Elke and colleague. A bit pricey but worth it. I'll try he schnitzel next time. :)

If I could give Elke's 6 out of 5 stars I would. I visit this wonderful little family-run restaurant every time I come to Yellowknife on business and and on all occasions, the food and service has been exceptional. The fish is deep fried to perfection but it is the Schnitzel that is sublime..... If you ask nice and call ahead you might even be able to get it with spaetzle (traditional German dumpling).
The host is a warm German lady, when I struggling what should I have, she recommends the German dish schnitzel, and the outcome is incredibly wonderful, the texture of the meat is crunchy and the sauce is full of the aroma of garlic and dew(? I'm not sure actually ) Highly recommend this homelike restaurant
