I have had the pleasure of working with Shifana Zaver-Jamal and Tina Hatch from the Burnaby Brentwood WorkBC location. Shifana has provided me with some excellent employment opportunities along with some websites to watch for new opportunities as they arise. Tina is great with her resume writing skills. She assisted me in updating my resume to make it more presentable to the employer. They both showed continued support and encouragement throughout the process. I want to take this opportunity to express my profound gratitude to the staff at Work BC Burnaby Brentwood. All the staff members that I interacted with were always very professional and helpful in my process towards getting a job. Their patience has finally paid off!!! I began my job with Veterans Canada as a Disability Assistant two weeks ago and have been very pleased with the training process thus far. I want to express my gratitude especially towards Jessie Jiang, my case worker, for her consistent encouragement and telephone calls. Greg and Leah for their professional and excellent workshops. Dionne for prodding me on. Leah for her excellent resume skills and suggestions, and of course, all of you at the front desk and those of you who manned the computer stations - for always being so welcoming and helpful when help was needed. To any of you who find our contemporary job finding world somewhat of a mystery, I strongly encourage you to connect with Work BC - the tools, tips and suggestions that were offered to me were truly eye opening and a constant learning experience throughout. At first I wasn't really sure if I wanted to go through WorkBC. When I phoned in to inquire a lady assigned me to my case manager. I met Shifana Zaver-Jamal, she then walked me through the process. She was there every step of the way. Once I finished my school she started sending me job leads and always followed up with me. She helped me with my resume and cover letter and she also recommended me to attend workshops which I did and it really helped me to be more confident on my interviews. I don't think I will ever forget when I told her I have an interview at Providence Healthcare and I really wanted to get this job, Shifana emailed me so that me and her can have a one on one practice for this interview. She made sure I answered interview questions correctly and confidently and it really helped me a lot to be able to practice that with her. And because of her help, I got the job which I'm really excited for as I will be starting soon. I'm really grateful to have been able to meet Shifana. She is awesome!!!!! Very helpful and compassionate, I wish I would have been able to meet her in person to say my thank you. Also would like to thank you Judy Wong, and Charlotte Baglole for the finance team you guys are awesome :) Thank you so much for helping me! I give Work BC Burnaby Brentwood a 5 star!!!!
