The Shanghainese man and woman who run this restaurant are happy to let a customer know that they are just here for the love of it. As retired folk, they don't need the money or the stress. So they open when they want, cook what they want and enjoy a great relationship with a variety of repeat customers from the local area. Although they offer the standard western style Chinese dishes that the Smiths and the Joneses are apt to seek out, they also offer a secondary, more traditional menu that is happily shared and translated each time by the owner. She probably doesn't make an English version of it because some of the Chinese names of dishes don't translate very well, such as \fish fragrance eggplant\ which has pork but zero fish. Her Chinese speaking regulars are asking for it in Chinese anyways, and people who prefer to get something more mainland authentic would either know the name or would be understanding of the situation. I liken this restaurant to going to a grandma's kitchen and eating what they are good at, what they know. After 10 years of living in Shanghai and getting stuck in White Rock during the pandemic, this Dining Wok restaurant is like a quick trip back to my second home, with all the quirks and inconveniences associated with life in China. People who are simply enjoying life's small pleasures and opening their door to allow others to enjoy with them; that's the sort of feeling that you get in a small alley Cafe, sitting on tin chairs and hearing repetitive loudspeakers playing dancing granny music... It's also the feeling I get here. Authentic people, the food will follow suit.

Small little shop that has some of the most authentic Chinese food especially the spicy choices. They are family owned/operated small restaurant, sometimes it takes a bit of wait but the friendly owner or server will always notify customers about that. Delicious food that are made fresh takes time and the wait is definitely worthy.

Joe and Heidi's food is absolutely delicious. Love the eat in atmosphere and service. Joe carefully & safely accommodates my celiac dietary restrictions. Definitely recommend! Take out online ordering is a breeze!
