I ordered the poutine featured for La Poutine Week and it was really awful. They packaged the poutine in a plastic bag with no cover so when I got it, the bag was full of half spilled poutine. It was ice cold and the steak was so tough and had absolutely no seasoning at all. The fries were still half frozen which made the poutine totally inedible. I was a fan of Johnny G's previously but this really was a disappointment.

Great comedy, great food, cheap night out. Winnipeg institution. You NEED to go here at least once. Intimate. Great staff. You can't get me to say anything less than I love this place!!!

10 chicken slouvaki meal was a disappointment asked for my dressing on the side. By the time I got home to eat it, it was soggy and warm. My friend got the steak and it was as chewy as a piece of leather. Tried to support local but a meal at McDonald's would of been better

We didn’t eat but the beer specials alone was the best in Winnipeg. The service was superb. I highly recommend this place if you visiting Winnipeg and staying downtown.

Venue: quite a bit of stairs in the entrance so not very wheelchair friendly. Good table social distancing. Staff were wearing masks. Hand sanitizer at entrance. Paper menu. Like literally sheets of paper. Also Dim lighting. Went with three of my friends one Saturday night really late. They were out of a couple menu items and their blender was broken. The food took a like 25 mins to get to our table. A couple a few socially distanced tables from us started complaining to the server they were waiting for 45 mins and no food. Oh well. Granted, the restaurant was really busy that night. The server for the area we were sat in was gracious and patient as we were trying to order our second and third options because things were not available anymore at that late hour. No worries, I get it. Ordered the real cheese Johnny poutine (something along those lines) it was decent. The gravy was a bit salty and reminded of Pony Corral poutine (but nowhere near that bad). My girl got the Philly cheese poutine. I wasn't as much a fan of hers when I had to finish it for her. Peppers and poutine don't go together that well for me. One of the group got ribs which they said were okay. They got a steak sandwich thing as well which we had a great time trying to figure out how he should eat it. We also got chicken fingers and fries and that was really good. The fries had good texture and size to them. Maybe a bit too crunchy/crusty. All in all: Meh/alright experience. Will probs go back for a lunch or less late dinner to enjoy the restaurant better. Suggestion: Digital menu. Slap a QR code on the table that guests can scan with their phone to go to a webpage that has the menu on it. And you can keep it up to date without having to print new ones, etc. A lot of other restaurants I've seen are doing that as a Covid thing.

Terrible customer service. I just went to pick up food for the first time, my first ever time inside and was given no greeting or friendly welcome. As I was paying for my food, one of the employees answered the phone and explained to the other employee that it was the Main Street location saying there was some lost customer outside wondering how to enter the restaurant and pick up the food they ordered, as they had become confused on which location they were picking up from. They openly laughed at how confused the customer sounded and I couldn’t believe how insensitive they were being especially during these hard times of the global pandemic and this customer was only coming to pick up food for themselves and get home safely. Not to mention it was very cold outside. Very disappointed.
