Yarrow Intergenerational Society for Justice Reviews | Rating 5 out of 5 stars (1 reviews)

Yarrow Intergenerational Society for Justice is located in Vancouver, Canada on 268 Keefer St #400. Yarrow Intergenerational Society for Justice is rated 5 out of 5 in the category individual & family services in Canada. Yarrow Intergenerational Society for Justice, formerly Youth for Chinese Seniors, have been serving low-income immigrant seniors in Chinatown and the Downtown Eastside since 2015. With two part-time staff and the support of over forty volunteers, we provide outreach to isolated seniors, interpretation and translation services, advocacy, and diverse programming that builds bridges between generations. We combine service provision and grassroots organizing, with a core belief that service work is political and that as a community, we have the tools we need to take care of one another. We empower seniors and youth to work together to improve their communities and tackle the difficult problems of oppression and violence. Our vision is of a Chinatown that is intergenerational and thriving, with accessible and culturally relevant services and an environment that cherishes our seniors and youth. Yarrow recognizes and values the diversity of everyone in our community. As an organization we are committed to welcoming and affirming the human rights of all people, including people of colour, indigenous peoples, LGBTQ people, sex workers, and people with disabilities.

The Yarrow Society helps elderly Chinese people get access to services otherwise unavailable due to the language barrier, by linking seniors with Chinese youth. They also have great dumpling fundraisers, with the dumplings handmade by Chinese elders: meat & vegan options included.
