After 8 years of business and personal banking at the Kits branch I was notified that VanCity would not renew our mortgage. No one, including the branch manager or the regional manager would explain why. I've never had a missed or delinquent payment in my life and have the more than enough income to support the mortgage amount we had. This meant applying for a mortgage approved at another institution. (I was easy approved). Additionally I've tried to close a business account several times, it still remains open and they continue to automatically withdraw money monthly from my account at another institution. I am in the process of closing all of my accounts at VanCity. This is not a fair way to deal with clients. I would strongly recommend that you do not use VanCity as your place to bank if you want to be treated with respect and efficiency.

We’ve all felt it, days blending into one... I’m rating this terrible covid-19 commercial. Depressing. We don’t need to be depressed to then think of how great you are guys are. Make a funny commercial, or at least not depressing ones. Serenity now! That’s all.

On February 24th, Vancity ran an ad on TV promoting their brand. The ad was totally insensitive and amoral. Most people ignore ads about banks, credit unions etc., so what they did to get the consumers' attention, was to start the ad showing all the disasters that have been happening around the world. Fires, floods, earthquakes, climate change etc. Events that are extremely worrying to most of the world's populations. Then they showed the Vancity logo and said we should bank with them. I phoned the Vancity head office to complain about this very inappropriate ad and was promised a call back the next day. Of course, no one called me back. I would not do any banking with Vancity since they obviously don't have a moral compass at all. Hopefully other consumers will feel the same way.
