Usually a city works building could be obvious and ugly, but this station doesn’t interfere with the surrounding area at all. It’s just part of the hill as you wander the seawall, and it’s not that obvious even when you see it right in front of you. History: Every day, Metro Vancouver residents, businesses and industries produce about 1 billion litres of wastewater, which is treated at the five wastewater treatment plants across the region. The Liquid Waste utility operates under three main goals: to protect the environment and public health, minimize treatment costs and use wastewater as a resource. When flows in sewers need to be moved uphill, pumping stations keep wastewater flowing through the system towards the treatment plants. They literally pump the wastewater along its route.
