Food was great for the most part (the avocado tasted like it was going off), but service and atmosphere left something to be desired. The table hadn't been cleaned before we sat down, and the server sprayed it without warning and got the cleaner in our waters, which she had placed on the table prior to cleaning. She didn't seem to notice. There was no music, so conversations between staff were audible. We heard one of the kitchen staff celebrating (calling from upstairs and applauding) that the shift was nearly over, which didn't help the already stiff, slightly unfriendly atmosphere.

Ordered ahead through Ritual and had no problems. Picked it up easily at the window. Avocado Toast with a soft poached egg and a waffle with honey whipped mascarpone for breakfast. Plus a latte to kickstart the day. The toast was crisp and supported all the toppings - a must in a loaded toast. The waffle was still warm and not overly sweet which I appreciate. Highly recommend as they have a selection of very tempting Benedicts as well.

I’ve ate here a lot and enjoyed the meals. Today however, the service left much to be desired. When served our drinks, my latte had spilled over the edge of the cup and over the handle. The waitress placed it on the table and immediately proceeded to the toilet to wash her hands. I had to ask for napkins which never came. Once the latte had dried on the cup I was able to drink. When I got my bacon Benny, the bacon tasted of mould. I couldn’t eat the meal and had to return. I was told there was a taste done on the other bacon in the kitchen and it was fine. The finishing touch was being charged for the returned meal. I ate less than 10%. I believe the poor tasting meal to be a once off and it has been a pleasant experience up to now. However, I will not be returning.

Walking through the west end, off the main streets, you'll find a surprise...a charming local cafe serving perfect coffees, and offering a delightful array of food. The staff are all charming, and make you feel most welcome. Shhhh! Let's keep it to ourselves!
