With a multi dimensional approach to global health, GAIF closely collaborates with governments, employers and communities to understand and address health disparities. Through a knowledge translation strategy, we provide a business case to our partners in accessibility, diversity, inclusion, health and immigration. It is estimated that about 93% of the global burden of preventable mortality (measured as potential years of life lost) occurs in Low- and middle-Income countries. Over 90% of the world's health research is targeted at diseases and conditions that primarily impact on only 10% of the world's population. ​ Global health studies health issues related to low and middle-income countries; and it focuses on their health, health system, health inequities, and health policies challenges; facing populations living in vulnerable conditions. Global health inequities are diverse and inherently linked to social determinants of health and climate change. These links are complex with political, historical, social, economic and environmental inter-sectionalities.
