Experience was pretty bad. If you think this gonna be some cute farm experience, it most definitely isn’t! This was in a tiny little room with zero ventilation that make the open kitchen heat up the entire room. Windows were full of condensation and it was sooo hot in the restaurant (aka room)! the food itself was a pass at best. For an hour drive away this was definitely not worth it. Definitely avoid! I really appreciated the fact that this was a vegan sugar shack run by an all-vegan staff. I know they just opened, and something like this is an ambitious plan. Some of the other reviewers weren’t too impressed, but I had a great time with my friends! The location is great, easy to get to, and the food was delicious! I’ve only ever been to one other veg sugar shack, and the food at that one was terrible (think 1970s veg food, we’ve come so much further since then!) this menu was so much better than that! I liked the spin on the traditional fare, and the place itself was quaint and charming. Their server was super nice too!
We managed to get a last minute spot despite the website saying it was sold out by emailing the day before. Sophie replied straight away and I am so pleased we were able to go! The food was DELICIOUS and there was a lot of it! We were totally stuffed by the end. The Canteen is really cute, easy to find and to park near and very welcoming. It was great to have such a lovely tasty vegan sugar shack. I loved the sweet pie at the end, the pancakes were amazing and the scrambled tofu is the best I have tasted. Good luck guys hope to see you next Sugar Shack season!

Staff were warm and welcoming! Every course was delectable! Décor is adorable mid-century log-cabin chic! But seriously, the food is worth the trip on its own: carefully thought-out, deliciously executed (despite their little kitchen!) vegan alternatives to the standard meaty sugar-shack fare. Make sure you plan ahead and reserve a good chunk of time to enjoy your meal — there are lots of tasty courses. Congrats to the team for opening with a bang! The vegans of Montreal and Val-David thank you! Can't wait to taste what you'll be serving the rest of the year.
Great variety of food and tasty offerings. It takes about 2.5h to get through the entire sevice but it gives you the time to digest and make space for more. The room is small and gets hot; better ventilation would help. If you're closer to the door you can open it and it helps. The service is sweet but it would be nice to have more than a person serving everyone it can get overwhelming for her. Overall a great experience!
We were verý excited to experience this great idea but wanted to share some feedback so that you can continue to grow. Service was very nice however could have used more of it. Food service was painstakingly slow, we got our first bite of food (bread!!!) one hour after our service time. Several things on the menu that were not served to us, so that was disappointing. Some yummy bites however pancakes were burnt, potato salad left a lot to be desired. The biggest disappointment was the sugar pie. Not sweet in the slightest and didn't resemble pie at all. We hope you can get the flow together in order speed things up and provide consistently tasty vegan food! Best of luck!
Ordered from here quite a while ago and never reviewed (sorry!!). Food was great so the stars are fully warranted. Here now though to give you love amid all the hate and tell you to keep doing what you're doing. Be safe.
