The Business Law Clinic (BLC) is a free clinic operated by the University of Victoria, Faculty of Law and staffed by upper year law students. Its purpose is two-fold. First, it offers free legal information and research services to small businesses and non profit organizations on a range of legal issues. Second, it allows students to develop and sharpen their skills at defining and researching legal issues, working with clients, and managing files. Clinic students work directly with clients to research issues and provide information under the supervision of mentors and the Clinic’s directors. The Clinic’s services are free and are available to anyone with a question about a business law issue. The Clinic operates year-round, with the exception of the months of April, August, and December. The BLC provides free legal information on matters that include (but are not limited to): Incorporation, Financing, Charitable Registration, Intellectual Property Protection, Shareholder Agreements, Contracts, Business Liability, Employment Law, Government Regulation, and Taxation.
