I highly recommend TCA! Their small classes make for excellent learning environment, and they have a great curriculum. They are also highly flexible, and you can tell that their care very much about their students and their continued improvement. Online delivery is just as good as in-person. In fact, in many cases it's a much better delivery method, so I got no complaints there neither!

I desperately tried to learn Mandarin by myself, using cellphones applications, books or through freelancing teachers found on online language platforms for many months with mitigated success. Then, one day I stumbled on Toronto Chinese Academy and I've found a dedicated team caring for my success. Even though I live in Quebec, the director Hong Laoshi arranged the lessons online. I felt right from the start while setting an introduction session with her; she genuinely cares about the well-being of her students. She's also very passionate about what she's doing, which may surprise some people. However, I sincerely believe that she has for everyone the best interest in mind. I also had the chance to be with Zhang Laoshi for a while. I particularly appreciate her humane, soft, and gentle touch to teaching this challenging language. They are all very professional, attentive and offer personalized plans to suit your goals. Overall, this school has outstanding staff, and I would recommend it to everyone I know.

This is hands down the best place to learn Chinese! I took Chinese lessons with other schools before, but I didn’t advance as fast at any of them as I did at TCA. The classes are small, 3-4 students max, and Amy (the owner) always matches you with someone who has a similar skill level. The scheduling is very flexible; if you can’t make it one week they try to find another class for you that you can join to stay on track. The lessons are very practical and focus on developing the skill to converse confidently in Chinese. Because the classes are small, the teachers can focus on every student to make sure that everyone understands what’s going on and they genuinely care about their students’ success. I also like that they mostly use their own course material and they organize Chinese conversation circles once week, which are an even better way to practice speaking!

Would definitely recommend this school since as a beginner learning Chinese, I’ve learned so much more than I expected in less than a year. Class sizes are very small so you always get the needed attention that aren’t found in many schools. The grammar and conversational content you learn is very useful for practical purposes and as someone going to a school with many Chinese students, I realized how useful the material really was, even with limited vocabulary. If you practice, you will sound very skilled even if your proficiency is elementary or lower. Overall a good school for someone with absolute no experience and for those that really want to immerse themselves as much as possible!
