Contact customer support to get account setup. I was given option to verify ID with Canada Post or a credit check to verify my ID. Simplii ran credit check and then didn't setup account but advise card was in the mail. Called back week later found out credit check lowered my score and account was not setup. Was advise credit check or Canada post for ID. I would gave permission for another credit to get a basic chequing account. Card showed up 2 weeks later and was advise account is not opened and need to verify ID again. Call customer service and was told a link must be sent to use Canada post for verifying ID. It has been 3 weeks and no link was sent. I have been sent 8 promotion emails. 2 had statement that link was coming. After 23 days I email with 2 links. Worst first experience with a bank. Would avoid this bank. Contact Tangerine and setup chequing it takes 5-10mins. Update after not getting account after almost 1 month would rate 0/10. Was contacted by client care. They were useless, did not listen to complaint just replied some of the problem with no action. I was sent some document for another persons joint account, Simplii can not be trusted with privacy. Took 3 days for them to delete email and document.

They stole my money for a month and there is no head office to answer the phone. I misplaced my card (which happens). When my app signed out, I lost access to my account. When I called to replace it, they tried to verify my identity by my memory of specific deposits or transactions. Because I didn't remember 'quickly enough', I was asked to write a list of info and my signature on a paper, with a paper bank bill and send them a photo on their 'secure email'. After I complied, they would email me, saying that I was verified, but when I would call they would not be able to see my photo attachments. They take their time and ask me to call back to see if they received the verification. This took a month of incompetent security verifications. Finally, one agent could see the attachment but my issue had already been sent to corporate security, and I would have to wait for thier call. It took a week for them to call me. Then I am asked to show my ID at a Canada Post. Even with Canada Posts receipt, they took a week of waiting for them to verify me. Remember the old days, when simple things like PIN numbers or password of my choice worked? They are incompetent thiefs. I had to open another account elsewhere and redirect my direct deposit! I'm still buried in bills because they don't have to care.

I have been with Simplii since it first opened as PC Financial in 1996. The strange looks at the PC Financial debit card when I first used it was worth it alone. Aside from the simple and easily fixed small bumps and bruises along the way this company has been excellent. Customer service, mortgage, NO fee bank accounts, Investments, bank transfers, certified bank drafts, lost debit and credit cards, forgotten passwords...you name it. All handled professionally and in a timely manner. You can have all the \swag points\ you want. I have cashed in over 2000 in FREE groceries over this time and have paid NO standard banking fees and Unlimited ATM transactions. It all works for me. Well done and thank you for the service over the years. No I do not work for Simplii and no I am not looking for a free toaster.

My initial application was not able to go through right away. I reached out to the number it referenced, and within a few short minutes someone was able to help me through the process. She even stayed on the line as I was doing the application to make sure I did it correctly. I would recommend Simplii for anyone else looking for a low fee banking option with great customer service.
