I barrelled my way out today in very cold weather to pick up the lunch special at the Yonge & Bloor Street Ritz. I recall eating at the College street Ritz location many years ago and the jerk chicken was fresh, juicy and delicious at lunch time. Not today. Gone are the days when lunch time specials meant freshly cooked food for office workers. But I am not complaining in this instance because both the jerk and BBQ chicken I ordered were good. I feel blessed during this overblown pandemic to get any prepared food at all, so I gratefully ate what had been prepared at least the day before. Staff were helpful and very pleasant. The lunch special @ 7.99 is for a very small takeout container with just enough food for someone with a small appetite. I was still hungry after lunch. I likely will not go back to the Ritz, but it is good comfort food. My ratings are: Staff friendliness and helpfulness. 10/10 Affordability 7/10 (lunch special portions are small) Flavor and Presentation 7.4

No attitude here! This Ritz location has sublime customer service. They usually handle a large volume of people and handle it with grace and class. It’s always a breeze when I visit. The food on the other hand isn’t bad, but it isn’t great or memorable Jamaican food. Although the Spicy beef patty was perfect, most of the food was overpowered with ginger and lacked genuine Jamaican spices. I ordered the curry chicken with rice and peas and coleslaw. While it was easy to go down, it was a little bland. The curry was barely noticeable and the rice and peas and curry chicken tasted like they were seasoned with the exact same spices. Again, it wasn’t a bad meal or experience, it was just a little bland. I would recommend Ritz as a great location to go to for a quick bite or when you have a craving for Island food and there’s nowhere else close to go when in the city.

I celebrated my PhD yesterday in this great place. Well we had a enjoyable evening and the venue was certainly one of the reasons for the happy evening. The crew contributed in a gorgeous style, the meals were delicious and my guests were extremely pleased. We shall no dout visit again for more joyful events. Thank you very much.

Ritz was once one of the best jerk chicken spots in the city but it is now a shell of what it used to be. The jerk chicken is flavorless and tastes subpar. It seems that once they grew to several locations their quality went downhill. SAD!
