Nathan has educated me a lot about the fundamentals of long term investing. I'm always thinking that I could just do it myself but I've realized over the last 13 years in dealing with Nathan, I was wrong. Nathan has constantly provided objective advice with a steady approach to investing. And it has paid off! Let me give one good example of the guidance and knowledge Nathan has bestowed on me when it comes to investing. Proving you can not time the market, reviewing funds which can potentially outperform the market and understanding an MER of 2% is worth it were the factors Nathan helped me comprehend. The S&P 500 was falling in March and after a 20% decline when it hit 2,700 we decided to purchase Fidelity's Canadian Growth Fund on March 13th. The unit value of the fund on the day of purchase was 49. The following week the markets continued to decline another 10%. On April 24th the S&P 500 was 2,830. If I just bought SPY ETF myself I would be up just 4%. But the Canadian Growth Fund is up 28% since March 13th. Nathan, as a financial advisor, understood my long term objective, knew the right product for me, and with his experience, not emotion, I have been able to weather the storm and come out significantly ahead. I sincerely thank Nathan and will continue to value his expertise.
