In-store shopping
The store has a lot of history. The old lady who once owned it used to own the entire block just west of Dufferin, but had her property expropriated by the govt to build the subway. When she left the store to her grandson, the will stipulated that the store had to remain exactly like it was in the 1930s. Their prices are cheap because they buy ripe produce that need to be eaten promptly. Other stores' produce need to sit a week before they are ready to eat. The longer food keeps, the more stores have to pay for their inventory.

I feel obligated to give Economy Fruit a 5 stars. Make no mistake, it's not perfect but it's where you'll find the best prices for fruits and vegetables. The prices are UNBEATABLE. The staff is friendly and helpful. The store has been open since the early 30's, you can check the pictures on an inside wall to prove the fact. If you want to save money and have healthy food, it's time to visit this store. I find the best days to be Friday and Saturday.
Oldest fruit store in Toronto established In 1928 Great produce and prices So unique you got to see it for yourself to believe it. Pinto, Ruby and Howie are the best
I love family owned stores! Good fruits and vegetables, low prices.
the food is ok but why not raise the price and also where did they even get all these cheep fruits and veggies it's not the best in my opinion yes it affordable but have you ever thought of where they buy their fruits and veggies because most of the time veggies and fruits are not this cheap. And why do I see there vegetables and fruits rotten all the time when I check there veggies and fruits?
