I recently arranged services in St. Michael's Hospital for my brother in law, who underwent open-heart surgery. We called Bayshore's Toronto Branch, and requested a Personal Support Worker for 12 hours overnight shifts, so that he would not be alone. The customer service from the first contact with the branch was EXCEPTIONAL. Care Manager Gina, took personal interest and suggested which staff might be a good fit. Over the course of his care, we received 3 Personal Support Workers who were all amazing. They were kind, gentle, and had real enthusiasm for their jobs! I can't speak highly enough about our experience! I have heard that Bayshore is the best, and now I know first hand that they really are!!

Our family contacted Bayshore in the fall of last year to help with the support of our mother who had recently had surgery and had been battling illness. They provided regular house cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping and companionship. The initial meeting with the care manager (Gina) was informative, professional and punctual (Gina is very personable as well). The individuals that were sent to my mother’s home were not only very professional and caring - they were simply amazing! They helped support our mother right through one of the coldest winters on record and did not miss any scheduled time! They all showed up (even when delayed by storms) and with smiles. Their work was thoughtful and thorough! It was a big relief to my mother and to the family - supporting someone on a consistent basis while working or living out of town is simply impossible without help. All of the staff are extremely professional from the reception to accounting - we always felt we were in good hands. We would not hesitate to use this company again (although one hopes it would not be necessary).
Poor organization. The staff doesn't return calls. When you are finally able to speak with them, they have no record of your previous conversation, so you are starting from scratch. Regarding the caregivers, it is DIFFICULT to get them off their personal cellphones. Some have a headset and they talk to their friends continuously. Also, they get paid for the entire scheduled time, even if they don't stay. And it's hard to get them to stay! Two hours help means just that, not 40 minutes and out the door.
Some of the nurses at bayshore are amazing, and I would love to leave 5 stars just for them. However the actual organization has very poor organizational issues, especially with ordering supplies. The nurse who I regularly see always orders 10 or so days before I run out of supplies and they dont arrive until the day after I run out, when they should be there several days after the order (or at least that I'm always told by staff). This is my health in their hands, so it sucks to have so little faith in the management. Some of the nurses seem like they are very new and not used to the job, which concerns me when other nurses are in and out and do a great job very quickly. I would give five stars if I were just rating my regular nurse, Ramona, as she has been excellent over the last few months!
Bayshore Home Health Care offers a caring service. Their professionals are caring and patient.Great companionship, she usually engages in conversations with my mother. I'm glad as my mother feel comfortable with her. Recommended.
