Flights from Canada are well organized and go smoothly, didn’t have problems with timing and connection in Azores to the next flight to Lisboa. However, this airline’s operations is a complete mess and extremely disorganized at Lisboa Internaitonal Airport. Expect to stand for 2 hours in line to load your luggage, since they don’t separate lanes and dump everyone in the same line regardless of their flight time. The flight from Lisboa to Azores can be easily delayed and you are risking not to catch the connecting flight to Canada due to a short connection time.

This airline is complete garbage. First issue we had was one week prior to departure when they texted (yes texted) us to say we had been moved from the Thursday flight to the Wednesday flight. We immediately tried calling them but none of the Canadian numbers got through so we ended up calling the U.S. number. While speaking with the agent we explained that the change would not work for us for a number of reasons and that it would cost us nearly 1000 CAD (changing our domestic flights to get to Toronto, adding another night at the hotel, extending the rental...). I asked if there was anyway they could compensate us for the added expense. They refused to help in anyway. I asked if we could get a credit or even if they would upgrade our seats but nothing. Second, we emailed the company 4 times regarding the issue and never received a response. Third, we get on the flight and the cabin is less than okay. My seat support under the cushion was broken so my entire left side sunk in. The entertainment system screen was no bigger than 5”x5”. There were no fresh air vents. The stewardess in our section was short and unapproachable. As we sit here on the tarmac waiting to push back I can’t help but regret the decision to fly with these guys. I can only imagine what the rest of the flight has to offer. Can truly only go up from here.
Honestly the only airline who flies there... but it's sad to say that because if there were other airlines competing, people would have dropped these guys a long time ago. Could honestly be better, and sad thing is.. their new plane they have recently gotten, nothing worked at all in that plane. Complete disaster. They should start picking up the slack or let other airlines take over and make people's flying experience better!
I'm making a point of sharing my experience here to help anyone who is considering booking travel with this horrible airline (SATA Express / Azores Airlines). In 2015 they changed my departure time twice. The day of my flight they leave me a voicemail saying my 8 pm flight would be leaving at 2 am. No explanation, apologies or compensation! After we complained to their head office they gave us a 20% off voucher for future travel. Against my better judgment, I booked flights with them for the summer of 2017 because the 20% off was too good to pass up. Three months after I booked I decided to check the prices online out of curiosity. The direct flight I had booked from Toronto to Lisbon was not even listed. I called their Toronto office and even though the automated message said they were opened I was left on hold for 1 hour. I called back and was left on hold for another hour at which point I gave up on them. I then e-mailed their head office. They replied promptly confirming that my flight had been cancelled! They never even notified me!! I just found this out by chance because I decided to look up my flight one day. What a joke of a company. They are offering me a full refund but I'll believe it when I see the money back on my credit card. Now I'm left with the extra work and expense of booking different flights, changing my car rental and hotel arrangements. Sorry for the long post but I'm angry and don't want anyone doing business with these losers.
This crew needs basic courtesy, speaking in portuguese knowing that its coming from Toronto and not making an effort to speak English is just stupid. Old smelly plane, tvs didnt work, food seemes to be the same rice and chicken with a brownie and salad. If I can avoid this airline I will.
