Love hiking here. Trial starts with the famous 99 steps that take you down the trail into the woods. It is not far from the city, but it looks like deep woods in the wilderness. Wildlife is rarely seen there. The trial is comfortable and has multiple variations to take a different path every time. The color change is around mid-October. I recently visited this place in late Nov and it is still amazing. Please see my new photos for the amazing landscape and evergreens adding nice tones.

The Thornton Bales Conservation Area was awesome! I went during winter and the stairs were frozen so you couldn't go down or up them the normal way. We had to slide down the sides of it while holding onto the sides of the stairway. As for going up, it was harder. We had to rely on our hands to pull ourselves up because of ice and the steep hill. We were quite tired at the end of it, but it was very fun! The only drawback is the parking. There was only about 8 spots to park in, and you are not allowed to park along to road(although many people still parked on the road anyways). All in all, I would definitely recommend this place. We will be coming back in the Fall.

Nothing says autumn more than the 99 steps of stairs at the golden trail. We went there on Oct 17th, and the leaves are all yellow. The sun's rays spill over the leaves on the trees and in the ground in a forest of maple and pine. It's like a dream. The trail could use more markers and maps along the way. There are a few confusing loops and entrances, so you better remember where you entered. The forest floor is easy to walk. The surrounding is clean and open.

Park is beautiful with interesting trials. I would give it a 5 star if there is better parking, lot may be able to park 10 cars and road side parking not allowed. It's not user friendly.

Amazing park, beautiful fall, must go before fall ends. Enough light to take pictures and not much wind to make it annoying. Strongly recommended. Dogs also love it... So colorful ️
