Before taking my dog to this groomer I called ahead to see if they had experience grooming Bernese mountain dogs. I was completely mortified when I picked her up, I asked that the owner call me the next day. He told me that his groomer was number one in East York. I offered to bring her back so that he could see first hand what kind of a hack job is groomer did on my dog. I explained to him that you don't shave or cut the fur on a Bernese mountain dog you only brush it out. He eventually hung up the phone on me and refuse to apologize or even make up for it. I think his name is Dave....Dave I told you I was going to write this review, and the pictures speak for themselves.

I started bringing my 10 month old puppy here for training. I opted for the 5-day package that strengthened his fundamentals, and addressed a few particular areas of misbehaving I was having trouble training on my own at home. After this week of training I saw significant improvement. I bring my puppy back once a week for follow up training and to play with the other dogs. He can tell when we arrive at the front door and gets excited immediately!
Our puppy had a few terrible experiences within a short period of time. He was attacked by a dog, in a car accident and subsequently had a bad experience with a groomer. Our puppy was bitting us and wouldn’t let us get near him to touch his collar. He was jumpy and would react to anything new or that moved. He was so over stressed it was scary to others and even to us. When we found The Dog House, David and his crew were able to immediately take action. They worked with him for a week straight keeping him overnight. He was vastly improved at the end of the week. He could have a leash put on by us. He was much calmer in the house. Outside and with other animals he had a long way to go. The team at The Dog House continued to be vigilant with him three days per week. The relationship formed with the fantastic team was so supportive for us and our puppy. We learned, from the team, to manage this very traumatized dog. Now, a year later, he is a different dog. He is calm, startles at almost nothing and sleeps calmly most of the day. The lap dog I was hoping for! Thank you Dog House for rehabilitating our baby! We can’t be happier or more grateful. Simba is a golden retriever and he’s been going here for almost a year now and he loves it! The staff here are awesome - special thanks to Eddie and Megan for always taking care and being available to answer our questions! It really helps to send Simba here once or twice a week so our family gets a break and he gets some mental stimulation too! Highly recommend!
My dog has been going to The Original Dog House for 7 years and just loves it. The handlers are kind, caring and very professional and skilled with dogs. Their love for each and everyone of them is so evident. The facilities are clean and well maintained. Never did i worry about him when he was in their capable hands. All I had to do was mention we were were going and my dog could hardly contain himself with excitement. This is a wonderful place for dogs to exercise and socialize with other dogs. Each dog is given so much love and attention. Can't say enough good things about this company and highly recommend them .
I am a frequent visitor to Vanderhoof park and also live in the nearby community. I always see the employees from The Original Dog House taking fantastic care of their dogs. They care so much about the well being of the animals. I have even seen staff from The Original Dog House walking around cleaning up garbage left in the park to ensure the dogs have a safe visit. The park/community is very busy and there are lots of dogs. The Original Dog House staff are always very respectful of others with or without animals, and give them the space in the park they require. What an amazing company! They are not only helping to rehabilitate dogs, but also keeping the city/park a clean and safe place for animals to enjoy.
I have been taking my lab to the ODG for 3 years. The staff are incredibly kind and friendly , and love dogs. Kaley still gets excited about going there every week, she comes home happy and tired! She was been boarded there also and is well looked after. Highly recommend you try it out!
The OGH is trustworthy and knowledgeable. They care about your dogs and they care about the owners. More than once I have leaned on the ODH when I needed training support, boarding and flexibility with my schedule to ensure my pup had care. I can’t say enough about the positive impact they have had on my pup and on me. Highly recommended.
