The building hosts small events every so often, and I was pleasantly surprised one morning when taking my dog on a short walk that there was a booth set up in the lobby! There were prepackaged colouring books with water-colour pencils, and microwavable popcorn! As soon as I returned to my apartment my roommate noticed the package and went down to grab her own. I keep the colouring book on my desk to use whenever I need a break.

Avoid this apartment at all cost!!! The worst management I've ever seen in my life, and I've lived in a fair number of places across North America. I signed the lease in April for move-in in September, and throughout summer, management was always \on vacation\ and never answered emails or phone calls. Worst nightmare was on Sep 1, 2018, move in day. The place was a complete chaos, with rooms still being ridiculously filthy with trash, boxes, walls with holes and black marks, not cleaned after previous tenants had left. Furniture was missing. When I complained, they said they would clean it by 4 PM. One hour later, they said \maybe\ it would be cleaned \tomorrow.\ I told them move-in date was Sep 1, so if they wanted to delay cleaning, they must pay for my hotel because that place was absolutely unfit for humans to be in. Eventually, they sort of vacuumed the place. Furniture still missing. Crazy thing is multiple apartments and tenants experienced the same thing. I'm surprised they are still in business. Attached are some photos of the apt on move-in day. The boxes were just there when we arrived, not ours.
As both a long time tenant and former employee (2.5years) I feel I have a unique perspective into living at The Marq. The building is a good value and usually there are generous leasing incentives. Unfortunately most of the rest of the negative feedback is justified. Management has little regard for ethics and integrity. They will give master keys to their friends and family so they can park for free, while tenants fork out 60 a month for parking. Maintenance goes through periods of being overworked and short-staffed. My unit wasn't cleaned when I moved in and this is a very common experience for others too. Employee turnover is high. There were 18 different employees in the 2.5 years I lived there. Make sure you get everything in writing because if you speak to an employee chances are they won't be there in a few months. The lease structure is complicated. Make sure you fully understand it before you sign. This isn't a bad building if you get lucky and land a good unit. However it can be a bit of a gamble. If you get a unit in rough shape or bad roommates you're going to have a bad experience. This happens more than it should.
I have stayed here for almost two years and the experience has been amazing. The apartments are well laid out and up to standard and the staff is very helpful. I recommend this building.
This place is attempting to engage with the residents in several ways. They had a colouring book give away and celebrated hot chocolate day by giving out some hot chocolate. They do their best to engage people and make it a community.
