Great experience with Mat. My wife was afraid to capsize but with a good training session, everything went well. We visited a great beach where we were served a brunch. It was just fantastic. I recommend this activity to all. Beginners to advanced.
I had a blast taking my basic kayaking skills course with Rob at Candlebox Kayaking in Shelburne.Not only was it a lot of fun in a relaxed atmosphere and picturesque setting, I also learned some crucial sea kayaking skills. Quality of equipment and knowledge of the instructor were top notch. Even though I have been kayaking for many years, I have no experience on the ocean, this course has definitely given me a lot more confidence in my sea kayak. Rob our instructor was extremely patient and made sure that every participant -with skills ranging from no experience to fairly proficient - was able to perform all the skills he introduced to us by the end of the day.I would highly recommend Candlebox Kayaking.
Had a great time learning to kayak surf on Lockeport beach. If you are looking to do some paddling in this part of Nova Scota, Matt will be able to accommodate whatever type of paddling you would like to do. Highly recommended and worth the trip to Shelburne.

Completed an intermediate whitewater course with Candlebox Kayaking. Had an amazing time with Matt and Karl. I got the chance to learn a lot and put my learnings into practice on the river over the 2 day course.
I spent an enjoyable adventure paddling around Kejimkujik Seaside with Candlebox Kayaking. The event was well organized from start to finish. The journey was exciting and bountiful with seals.I always felt that my comfort was one of the many variables Matt was able to navigate, throughout the day. Thanx Matt.
An Exhilarating Fantastic Adventure My friend and I had an absolutely incredible day of paddling with Matt DeLong, a very professional guide and all around great guy. From the sunny calm of Central Port Mouton to the foggy serenity when cruising past Carter's Beach and then beyond Spectacle Island to the eeriness of Massacre Island (which didn't look so eerie once the fog lifted) and then through the thick fog and over huge but gentle ocean swells, we suddenly found ourselves approaching the vast and beautiful beach of Port Mouton Island. The return trip was completely different but equally enjoyable as the fog had cleared and the sea was quite calm. The adventure was both exhilarating and serene not to mention completely surreal. Matt is a fantastic guide and expert navigator and not once did we feel out of our comfort zone. His vast knowledge of the area and its wildlife made the trip that much more interesting. And he even put on a great spread when it came to snack time! There are not enough superlatives to fully describe our experience. I would highly recommend Matt DeLong and Candlebox Kayaking for your next great adventure!!
