When we decided to visit NF, our friend asked asked us to bring her some Dark Tickle Blueberry Jam if we saw some. Yeah, right. Well darned if we didn’t trip over the factory and store out here in BF nowhere! Slid the rental to a stop and 100 later we were hoping that we had enough clothes to wrap around all the jars of jams and spreads and stuff we bought. Everything made it home safe and sound but we will have to get back for replenishment some day! P.S. - you can buy this in S. Ont if you look close enough, but it’s not the same adventure.

Wonderful, friendly people who can give you the scoop on all things Newfoundland. Take the whale watching excursion if the weather permits, browse their store, eat their baked goods, jams and sweets. Its the best place in town!

Words cannot fully describe the experience you will have with Kier and Glenn guiding you on your tour in the highly safe and secure zodiac type boat. Every aspect of your journey is carefully planned, all aspects of safety considered so you only need to focus on your exploration. Feeling the spray of the ocean on your face simply adds to you being immersed in the sights and sounds. Your experience will be different than my experience, unique to you, and no less exciting, breathtaking and memorable. Whales, seals, birds, icebergs and more! Dark Tickle tours (you'll learn why it's called that as well) is simply a must when you are in the area. Book ahead, secure your seat, climb aboard. Simply... Wow!! You won't regret it.

Probably the most prominent local product for the province of Newfoundland, the Dark Tickle Company is a nice stop to make. They do a good job of marrying the manufacturing, shop and marketing of the product along with other local products by artisans in the area. I like the feel of the shop as it has lots of their own product and showcases other places that have plenty of skilled artists. The biggest selection of the Dark Tickle products was seen here even though you’ll see it throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. There is not a guided tour or anything but you can watch the preserve makers do their thing with the various berries in a sealed area in the back. They also sell dog and cat related items… they sell dog food probably for locals and there is this fun dog collar that is patterned with mummers! If it came in cat size, I would have gotten 2. There is a few cat items from a local artist too so you just have to look. The other art pieces like labradorite (not the biggest selection I saw on our trip) or ceramics have a Newfoundlander twist that will make you either chuckle or smile warmly. If you are looking for something authentic to bring home, do make the time to stop by and see what lovely things they have. I am not certain if the cafe is part of the shop but there is a place to have a light lunch or snack upstairs. The decor is fitting and cozy and not too busy both times we were there. I found that the food was good and the service good. Prices are as I expect of a cafe so a good place to stop by for a short meal.

We stopped here to grab some tourist stuff. You know, candy. Nice little shop. Didn't even know about the cafe upstairs till I peeked at some of the other reviews. But at the time we were not looking for food.

Cute store. Some over priced items. They have nice paintings and books. Cafe Nymph was delicious. Had chocolate screech cheese cake, blueberry crumble and coffee. Cozy environment with interesting artifacts around. (I ate some before taking a photo...)

My husband and I enjoyed a sculpin cone each. There were only 4 ice cream flavors to choose from for the sculpin cone, my husband expressed he would've liked more options but I didn't mind the options. I chose partridgeberry and blueberry for my cone--the blueberry I found delicious as well as the cone which was like a soft waffle. As well, we ordered a coffee each. The coffee was pretty tasty. The service was friendly. The cafe had a nautical theme and was very appealing.
