I hiked the south boundary trail, taking the Rocky pass out. On my hike from the trailhead, towards Cadomin, I ran into many different people who were quick to chat and share their experiences about the wilderness. The fourth group to ask me where I was coming from ended up giving me a ride, and a ticket to the legion's annual steak BBQ. After 10 days in the woods (with a fire ban) and 14 to go, a hot meal was extremely appreciated. The steak was amazing; Alberta beef cooked medium rare. Not to mention, some of the people I met on the road insisted on buying me beers. I had no idea the legion would be having their big shindig while I passed through. But, I am so fortunate it worked out as it did. The guys who gave me: a drive, ticket to the BBQ, beers, history of the area, and bear protection were among the most genuine and kindest guys I have ever met. I had never really been to the Royal Canadian Legion before, so this was an amazing introduction. Everyone I met was friendly, and welcoming. I definitely plan on going back to the legion, and to Cadomin.
