Who is NWI? Established in the Municipality of Red Lake in 1997, NWI has been providing water and wastewater operations, maintenance and management services to Municipal, First Nation and Industrial clients for over two decades and currently operates, maintains and manages 35 municipal water and wastewater subsystems. These systems include over 60 individual facilities that are distributed over a geographical area that is similar in size to that of France and Germany combined. NWI operates, maintains and manages 50% of all municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities west of Thunder Bay to the Manitoba border, and employs over 40 professionals dedicated to setting new industry standards and best practices.  Further, NWI provides various consulting services, including a 24-7 hotline for technical support and emergency responses, to every First Nation in Ontario (127 communities) either directly or through the Government of Canada’s Department of Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) and the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks’ (MECP) Spills Action Centre (SAC). All rights reserved. NWI Employee Secure Portal|Northern Waterworks Inc. (NWI) core business is an “Accredited Operating Authority”, in the operations and maintenance of water treatment facilities. Accreditation is a rigorous, mandatory process for municipal operations and involves annual independent third-party audits to maintain. Without accreditation, a service provider is not eligible to provide municipalities with Operating Authority services in Ontario. NWI provides operations and maintenance services throughout Ontario to Municipal, Industrial and First Nation clients. Current and past industrial clients include Barrick Gold Corporation, Goldcorp, De Beers and Weyerhaeuser. NWI has been working alongside municipalities and First Nations since our inception in 1997. NWI has continually grown and expanded operations, and are now providing services province wide, throughout Ontario. NWI currently deliver direct contract management and oversight to ninety-three (93) water and wastewater facilities across Ontario. NWI has a dedicated compliment of more than 70-staff, as well as numerous other resources including nine aircraft to assist with provision of services. NWI has fully staffed and strategically distributed hubs throughout Ontario. Placement of hubs is optimized to facilitate an efficient and economical distribution of staff and resources, through aggregation of projects located in similar geographic regions. Under contract with the Federal Government NWI currently provide the Circuit Rider Training Program (CRTP) and 24/7 First Response and Technical Support Program (FRTSP) to all 115 First Nation communities with communal water/wastewater systems in Ontario.
