Our experience has been very disappointing. We brought our loved one in because of his addiction to alcohol and depression. After several conversations with the intake people they agreed that this was the place he should be for help. They were fully aware of his frailties, both physically and emotionally and promised that they had the medical care to handle the situation. We checked him in on a Sunday around 2:30 pm for a 30 day stay. They called us on Tuesday at 11:00 AM and told us they couldn't provide the medical care he needed and we would have to come and pick him up right away. Being 5 hours away, that wasn't an easy option. So after much consternation and discussion we asked them to call an ambulance and send him to the nearest hospital, which they did. But with no wallet, no cell phone or sundries, Nothing! Who does that? They also felt that they would charge us for 3 days of care when he was there for less than 48 hours. After consulting with the staff we discovered all they did was serve him a few meals and dispensed his meds. When requesting they adjust the bill to two days instead of 3 the ownership said no. I guess we know where they stand on compassion and care, sadly at the end of the day it seems it is all about the money and not the care here.

What can you say about a place that changed a persons life. Years and years of addiction have come to an end. Beautiful surroundings in Port Hope give way to some of the most professional and caring individuals you can ever hope to meet. My brother-in-law is a new man and it’s all because of these wonderful human beings. Dedicated professionals who take pride in what they do and strive to help each and every person that walks through their door so that they may live the life they were born to live.Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You have given him back to us better than ever.

This centre saved my life, the counsellors are amazing and really easy to open up to. They counsellors and residents make you feel right at home as soon as you walk threw the door. There is opportunity to see a psychotherapist which i highly suggest. She is very helpful with working on your deeper problems. They have one-on-one meetings with your primary counsellor which was so helpful and really help you dig deep into your inner self. All and all this place helped me gain the tools to be successful when i leave. I will definitely be back on saturdays for alumni!
