We have been launching our boats there for 16 plus years. Always friendly... its gated, so it's very safe. Port Dover is a very safe... its a beautiful place to visit and definitely to live. We took one of our boats out this morning the lake was flat and not much boat traffic.

Always a favorite, feels like a fishing village on some isolated island, speaking strictly of the marina, tour boats and beach. The small scale atmosphere and side-by side vendors are reminiscent of a yet to boom neighborhood, but judging from the residential area at the gate of this location, I believe they're planning something even better. You may need binoculars as the vast waters make the horizon and shore more like an optical illusion - I guess that was a decorative lighthouse, eh!? On the dock, the sailors and animals, such as turkey vultures, ducks, other birds, people's domesticated dogs, dads, babies, families, motorcycles, gentleman who agrees that you smoke beside him then bolts the minute you light up, etc., will put a smile on your face.

We stopped at Port Dover after a tough 12 hours on Lake Erie coming from Port Stanley. Along the way we endured many waterspouts and high winds and the friendly staff at PDHM were a welcome relief. We stayed for 4 days in PDHM and thoroughly enjoyed it. The facility was great, washrooms clean, a laundry facility in the building was a nice feature and did I mention the staff were great,, yes they were. Downtown was a bit of a hike but the exercise was welcome. A real tourist spot with the beach being the main attraction. All in all a very nice stay.

Sailing boat races on wednesday are always fun, you can just volunteer to help someone out and they will teach you how to sail.
