My family and I were vacationing on Pender for a week. I called Pender Island Kayak Adventure more halfway through the week to try and arrange a paddleboard lesson as advertised on their website (...by request only. Please contact us!). I hoped that arranging something 4 day in advance of Saturday would be reasonable. No call back, so I went into their facility to talk to someone. The desk staff was helpful, assured me that someone would call me to arrange something for Saturday, and encouraged me that the lessons were very good. they even showed me the rentals. I told them I was a single person, available anytime Saturday to be flexible, and interested in renting equipment as well. Still no call back. End of Friday, I called again and I was curtly dismissed as I was a single person, told that the instructor wasn't available, and told the next planned lesson wasn't until September! I understand they have policies around lesson enrolment and instructor availability, but it would be helpful to communicate these limitations and call back prospective customers in a timely manner. A disappointing end to an otherwise nice vacation on Pender Island. Update: The owner responded very promptly to my review. I understand that COVID-19 has effected services everywhere which is why I wanted to contact them early to see if there was a chance to arrange a lesson if at all. Sounds like Pender Island Kayak Adventures provides a range of quality paddling services in a beautiful setting and I hope they continue to do so through the pandemic and well beyond.

Jay and Emily from Pender Island Kayak Adventures have taken our whole family out several times, including on an exciting channel crossing to Saturna Island. Their care and expertise put me at ease, even though I am a beginner. Our kids love them! My husband is also taking Paddle Canada Skill Certification through Jay. So great to have such a high class guiding company here on Pender!
I had an amazing experience and loved the morning intertidal tour with Jay and Erin. They showed us some safety tips and helped us with the gear. We saw countless baby seals, starfishes, eagles and kingfishers. The landscape is amazing, as you can imagine. I liked that I didn't feel rushed or left behind even though I was the least experienced kayaker. I always felt safe. Hopefully next time I can join for the night tour to see the bioluminescent plankton.

Fantastic experience renting from them! Great gear and good communication. Beautiful spot to kayak.
