I spent almost half a day here. Yes, I was that slow in reading details about the artists and I find them all interesting. Both big and small art, it just mesmerizing imagining what they were thinking creating those art. The boutique shop is also nice.

The National Gallery of Canada is a great place to visit for a few hours! It is about a 15 minute scenic walk from the parliament buildings, with great views of the Ottawa River! Outside the gallery there are some cool pictures to be had, especially the large spider sculpture, named Maman! If you’re already visiting downtown, this is a definite must see!

A must for any art lover visiting Ottawa. It has a large collection of both modern and classical art. You won't be able to see everything in one visit but it's still worth it to just do one gallery. Could not recommended enough.

The gallery is a great example of all the amazing canadian art. I especially love all the Tom Thomson paintings since he is my favourite artist. There are landscape paintings of many different areas of Canada by many different artists. On Thursday evenings, the museum is free between 5-8pm. There is a great view of parliament from the foyer.
