I ordered via Uber for my elderly parents who were born and raised in Japan. We were impressed with the diverse menu options. The food came well packed, great presentation despite it being delivery, with authentic flavouring. They enjoyed their dinner immensely and were so happy to have discovered this Izakaya. We will be repeat customers for sure.

Ordered from Uber eats the Mackerel bento with Miso soup and the taste was truly authentic to what I had in Japan. A true delight!
Love this local izakaya! It's the best addition to Bank Street! We've been coming here since it opened and the service is always top notch. There's no other place in the city that has the same vibe and we can't wait to go back with friends again after the pandemic! In the meantime, it's our go-to for take-out! The poke bowls are fresh and generously portioned but the menu items I miss the most from dining in are their black sesame ice cream and cocktails :)
Love Shingen! This restaurant is the only authentic izakaya restaurant in Ottawa. Their food is very authentic and everything I've ordered tasted so good. I can't wait to go back to the restaurant once it's open.
Really friendly service and had good preventative measures in terms of covid regulations (when there was dine-in). I highly recommend the katsu curry and nabe!
I understand it’s a difficult time for everyone . But food quality is down to the hill since my last visit. And the waitress, I don’t know if she’s the owner or waitress, bad service throughout our visit. We drove all the way from barrhaven. But we didn’t get good service and good food. I do not recommend this place anymore.
Izakaya Shingen is one of my favorite places to go in Ottawa. I love Japanese cuisine and Izakaya is great to have some of the beloved street and comfort foods that you normally don't see. I particularly like the wide selection of Japanese and Asian alcohol. They have a really large selection of sake as well. Service is great as well, friendly and fast.
I can't believe I am having these in Ottawa, 5 rating if I can. Very fresh and outstanding! Best and only Japanese restaurant!
