Back in my day (1987), I had a very good karate teacher. He had a bronze medal in Soviet Union (Russia) karate kumite championship. I’m very grateful to him. Needless to say, I have high expectations for a karate instructor. When we moved to Ottawa from Toronto three and a half years ago, I was looking for a karate school for my daughter, orange belt in Shotokan at the time. I’ve visited at least half a dozen karate schools including some local “big” names. I was really disappointed. Eventually, I’ve found Ottawa Chito-Kai Karate School. I spoke with Sensei Brown and Sensei Parker and watched a class and I felt this is it. It was 3 years ago. My daughter is very happy and she’s looking forward for the every next class since then. She is working towards her junior black belt in next couple of years. I cannot thank enough Sensei Brown for his dedication to teach the next generation of karatekas.

Ottawa Chito-Kai has is an excellent school. Steve Parker runs classes every noon-hour and provides excellent instruction in traditional Chito-Ryu karate in addition to a great workout. Traditional martial arts at its finest in the city of Ottawa.
