Hi, we had consulted Dr Patel for my wife's UC. We were new to Canada and needed a sooner appointment with GI and reached out to all GI's in the areas. Dr Patel's office staff is best i have ever seen, she is very empathetic and helped us get an sooner possible apportionment with Dr Patel even without OHIP. Dr Patel assessed the situation quickly based on my Wife medical history and prescribed appropriate medication which put back into remission. Dr Patel is great GI in getting right medication needed and office staff is absolutely amazing. Would certainly recommend Dr Patel for GI needs.

After having an MRI or Cat Scan done in which a dye was injected for contrast. Following the MRI there was a mild rash which was listed as a common side affect on the paperwork received prior to the dye injection. The form indicated that it should pass within 2 or 3 days I believe and it did. Dr. Jayesh Patel wanted to prescribe Benedryl and Prednisone to be taken before the next ink injection and MRI. When I asked why Prednisone he became angry as though I was questioning his decision when what I was trying to do is understand why it was even being suggested. He immediately became defensive and in an angry tone said we can get you a second opinion as you seem to question my decision. With further discussion it finally came out that he wanted to use Prednisone to avoid an anaphylactic reaction. While the patient in this case has several food allergies or sensitivities they have never had any anaphylactic reaction and no doctor has ever recommended they carry an Epi Pen for any of them. It seemed overkill to me to prescribe Prednisone in this case. Once again he displayed much anger. While I did not question the knowledge of Dr. Patel, his angry reaction to my questioning the use of the drug seems to indicate a lack of confidence in himself and this leads me to question his ability as a doctor. I would certainly look to an allergist for a second opinion now. In this case there has been previous sensitivity to drugs as well and I wonder if he considered the possibility of an anaphylactic reaction to Prednisone itself. I was quite done with him by the end of this appointment and although I was not the patient I would not use him for myself or recommend him to anyone.
