A. McKenna Plumbing Reviews | Rating 3.8 out of 5 stars (5 reviews)

A. McKenna Plumbing is located in Oakville, Canada on 1426 Wallace Rd Unit 3. A. McKenna Plumbing is rated 3.8 out of 5 in the category appliance repair service in Canada. A. McKenna Plumbing was founded in 2001 by Mark McKenna. The 22 year veteran in the plumbing industry identified a problem with the way plumbing service calls were being handled. With his family by his side, Mark founded the business on the principle that the way to grow your business was not just to spend money on advertising, but to let our plumbing customers do the advertising for us. We have built the company on the foundation of our reputation and count on our customers calling us back, and referring us to their friends and family. We often hear that it is tough to find a plumber that is reliable and trustworthy. It's hard to find a tradesman with the experience and the integrity to give you an honest assessment of a situation, and to perform the work without up-selling. Often times customers are left with a feeling that they have been 'had'. Our plumbers work where they live, right here in the Oakville and Burlington area, and we look forward to seeing our clients outside of our jobs. We are located in Oakville but we service Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Mississauga, and Etobicoke.

They did 5 things - only the pipe repair remains good. The two faucets they installed were missing pieces according to the next plumber we used. They said they couldn't snake the drain and fix my tub draining... a fireman showed me how to just use a plunger after my house flooded. Thanks for that! And THEN they dropped my one-year old toilet and chipped it while reinstalling it. They said the giant chip - the size of a plum - was from it rocking - I sat on it that morning and it was fine then. PLUS I HEARD HIM DROP IT; I heard the loud bang when it fell. They promised to order a new one and never came back.

Wife called A McKenna for our Glacier Bay toilet not draining properly. Plumber arrived opening the bathroom door and responded (just looking at the dual flush toilet) that it couldn't be fixed & that McKenna could replace it for 800. Plumber lifted the cistern lid, did not not depress the flush buttons and just said the whole toilet had to be replaced because once something goes wrong, they \don't work\. He advised that you couldn't replace the flush mechanism/canister because the parts don't exist. Both of us being a little shocked at the spot \diagnosis\, we paid the 90 service fee advising we'll think a bit more. Went to the local hardware shop & found the exact same Fluidmaster 800 series flush canister on sale for 40 as was in our toilet cistern. Instead, bought some Drano for 10 & after a few flushes and 15min, had an unblocked perfectly working toilet. Left a complaint with McKenna requesting refunding of the service fee. They were at least courteous to call me back but then we got into a he said-she said discussion as they claimed the plumber had flushed the toilet several times in front of us which was false. Not even a partial refund.

Booked Mckenna do investigate a leak in ensuite. Ran water for 40 mins and said there was no leak, must have been a spill. Leak resumed shortly after they left. I called back and was told my ceiling would need to be cut open. I paid 280 for this. Not believing this, I called another plumber and within 5 mins the source of the leak was found. The shower base was caulked properly the problem was resolved very quickly. I understand mistakes happen and people can miss things from time to time, but I was told this was such an obvious problem. I felt wronged, and contacted Mark about the issue saying I wanted to discuss a refund for his visit. Not only was his response rude (\go take it up with visa\) and aggressive (\escalation is our middle name\) I thought this was just terrible customer service. They made be ok plumbers who made a mistake, but the way this was handled was disgraceful in my opinion. DONT RECOMMEND.

Excellent service. Very prompt, professional team with high quality work. I would certainly recommend them. They would be my first choice again for any future needs.

My experience with this company due to a sump pump failure is not consistent with what I see in other customer reviews. People skills of the lead plumber / owner left much to be desired. The 2 man crew installed a new Liberty Sump plus a Liberty SJ10 SumpJet Water Powered Backup Sump Pump for extra security going forward for pump failures and blackouts. Was told prior to committing, there would be minimal intrusions to our finished basement ceiling and the pipe would be buried. Little to no effort was made to find the least intrusive / noticeable location for installation. End result 3 big holes in the ceiling with 15' of blue floppy pipe totally exposed and the 1st thing you see when you walk into the basement. 1st time I ran the backup pump the blue pump rattled so hard some of the clamps holding the pipe came out of the wall as the clamps are not installed to code. Committed twice to come back and never showed. Extremely disappointed. 2500 cost for 2 man for 4 hours max, an inferior installation and very poor customer service. Truly regret having the water based backup installed. In hindsight should have bought a second pump and a small generator. Would have been much cheaper and way less damaging, stressful and significant additional repair costs. Obviously would not recommend or use again.
